The most exciting game of round 16 in the Eredivisie took place in Leiden. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of one of their biggest challengers Dukes UDB (8-8) to third ranked Leiden (10-6) 62-60 in the game for the third place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Dukes UDB. Leiden made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Dukes UDB turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Daviyon Draper (201-94, college: FIU) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 9 rebounds and the former international Jessey Voorn (197-90, agency: Court Side) who added 13 points and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side point guard Maarten Bouwknecht (185-94) responded with 19 points. Leiden maintains third position with 10-6 record having five points less than leader Groningen. Dukes UDB at the other side keeps the fourth place with eight games lost. Leiden are looking forward to face Leeuwarden (#6) on the road in the next round. Dukes UDB will play against the league's second-placed Zwolle and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Zwolle. Their biggest opponent host Zwolle (11-5) lost to first ranked Groningen (15-1) 68-61. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Zwolle. The winners were led by American point guard Lance Jeter (191-88, college: Nebraska) who scored that evening 17 points and 5 assists and Sean Cunningham supported him with 16 points. Groningen's coach Erik Braal allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 13 points and 7 rebounds by American forward J.T. Yoho (198-93, college: Wright St., agency: Three Eye Sports) did not help to save the game for Zwolle. Groningen have an impressive ten-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 15-1 record. Zwolle at the other side keeps the second place with five games lost. Groningen will play against Amsterdam (#5) at home in the next round. Zwolle will play against Dukes UDB in Den Bosch and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Meshack Lufile produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) for lost side. Rotterdam moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated Leeuwarden. Rotterdam will meet bottom-ranked Weert (#8) on the road in the next round. Leeuwarden will play against Leiden and hope to secure a win.

In the last game of round 16 bottom-ranked Weert lost to Amsterdam on the opponent's court 71-89.

Amsterdam - Weert 89-71

Rather expected game when 8th ranked Weert (1-15) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Amsterdam (7-9) 89-71 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Amsterdam. Weert managed to win third quarter 23-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Amsterdam forced 19 Weert turnovers. The former international swingman Dimeo Van Der Horst (197-91) fired 25 points for the winners. The former international point guard Aaron Roye (184-88) chipped in 22 points and 5 assists. Four Amsterdam players scored in double figures. Forward Rens Van Ravensteijn (200-95) produced 21 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Dyon Halman (204-94, agency: Court Side) added 9 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Amsterdam moved-up to fifth place. Weert lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Amsterdam will meet league's leader Groningen on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Weert will play against Rotterdam (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-68. Rotterdam forced 22 Leeuwarden turnovers. American guard La'Shard Anderson (185-89, college: Boise St.) fired 22 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals for the winners. The former international center Robert Krabbendam (213-86, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Court Side) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. Five Rotterdam players scored in double figures. Canadian Meshack Lufile (203, college: Cape Breton) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and American point guard George Marshall (186-92, college: S.Dakota St.) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side.
