Eighth-ranked Weert (1-16) made lots of trouble for sixth ranked Rotterdam (7-10) on Saturday. The visitors from Rotterdam managed to secure only two-point victory 78-76. However their fans expected easier game. The guests trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 30-17 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Rotterdam made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Weert helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard La'Shard Anderson (185-89, college: Boise St.) who scored 34 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals. His fellow American import guard Jermaine Marshall (193-90, college: Arizona St.) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. point guard Kasper Averink (183-93) produced 17 points for the hosts. Weert's coach Radenko Varagic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Rotterdam moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Amsterdam. Weert lost eighth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Rotterdam is looking forward to face Amsterdam (#6) on the road in the next round. Weert will play against Leiden and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.

Tiller (188-88, college: Missouri) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Clayton Vette contributed with 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American guard Steve McWhorter (188-92, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) answered with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for Dukes UDB. Dukes UDB's coach Sander van der Holst tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Zwolle maintains second place with 12-5 record having four points less than leader Groningen. Dukes UDB at the other side keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. Zwolle will play against Leeuwarden (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Dukes UDB will play against the league's leader Groningen and hopes to get back on the winning track.

The game in Leeuwarden supposed to be also worth to mention about. Third ranked Leiden (11-6) played at the court of 6th ranked Leeuwarden (6-11). Leiden smashed Leeuwarden 97-70. The game was dominated by American players. Daviyon Draper nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Leiden maintains third place with 11-6 record having five points less than leader Groningen. Leeuwarden at the other side dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. Leiden's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Weert (#8) at home which should be theoretically another easy game. Leeuwarden will play against the league's second-placed Zwolle and hope to win that game.

Groningen - Amsterdam 82-52

Leader Groningen delivered the sixteenth victory on Saturday night. This time they crushed 5th ranked Amsterdam (7-10) 82-52. The game was mostly controlled by Groningen. Amsterdam managed to win second period 24-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Amsterdam to just 6 points in first quarter. Groningen dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Amsterdam's 14. Groningen forced 20 Amsterdam turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Chase Fieler (203-92, college: FGCU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import swingman Jason Dourisseau (196-83, college: Nebraska) chipped in 11 points and 4 assists. Four Groningen players scored in double figures. The former international point guard Aaron Roye (184-88) responded with 19 points and 5 assists and Surinamese Sergio de Randamie (201-84, college: Houston) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. But then Zwolle had a 14-5 second period charge getting the lead and Dukes UDB was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 61-74. The game in Leeuwarden supposed to be also worth to mention about. Third ranked Leiden (11-6) played at the court of 6th ranked Leeuwarden (6-11). Leiden smashed Leeuwarden 97-70. The game was mostly controlled by Leiden. Leeuwarden was better in second period 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Leiden dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Leeuwarden's 28. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Leeuwarden's players. The game was dominated by American players.
