Here is the weekly review of the top performing Dutch players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international guard Yannick Franke (194-96, currently plays in Croatia). Franke led KK Zadar to a victory over one of league's weakest teams H.Analitica (3-16) crushing them 96-73 in the Croatian A1 on Saturday night. He was MVP of the game. Franke recorded 14 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 20 minutes on the court. KK Zadar (9-7) is placed sixth in the A1. This year Franke averages: 7.2ppg, 3.3rpg, 2FGP: 63.2%(12-19), 3FGP: 42.9% and FT: 33.3% in six games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Dutch senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Thomas van der Mars (208-90, college: Portland, currently plays in Estonia). van der Mars contributed to a 2-point Rapla's victory against one of league's weakest teams Valga (6-16) 72-70 in the Estonian Alexela KML in Tuesday night's game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and getting 14 rebounds. AVIS Rapla (13-9) is placed third in the Alexela KML. van der Mars has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 17.3ppg, 13.1rpg, 2FGP: 63.3%(150-237) and FT: 71.4%. van der Mars is in the roster of the Dutch senior national team.

The Dutch player who performed third best last week abroad was former U20 international center Jito Kok (206-94, agency: Court Side, college: San Diego, currently plays in Estonia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Thomas van der Mars. But that was another game of his team in Estonian Alexela KML which we would like to mention. Kok. He could not help one of league's weakest teams Rapla (13-9) in their last game. Despite Kok's good performance Rapla was edged 80-77 at home by the second-ranked Kalev/Cramo. He scored 10 points and blocked 2 shots in 17 minutes. This year Kok's overall stats are: 4.8ppg, 2.3rpg, 2FGP: 37.5% and FT: 68.8% in six games. He played for the Dutch U20 national team three years ago.

   #4. Shooting guard Worthy de Jong (194-88, currently plays in France) was not able to help SO Maritime Boulogne (8-13) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite de Jong's good performance SO Maritime Boulogne was defeated 86-80 on the road by the much higher-ranked ADA Blois (#4). He scored 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. de Jong's total stats this season are: 9.8ppg, 3.2rpg, 2.0apg and 1.7spg. He is also Dutch national team player.

International power forward Roeland Schaftenaar (211-88, college: Oregon St., currently plays in Greece) managed to help A.G.O Rethymno Aegean in a victory against the 12th-ranked Kymis (6-14) 84-73 in the Greek A1 in Saturday night's game. Schaftenaar scored 5 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 18 minutes. A.G.O Rethymno Aegean (9-11) is placed seventh in the A1. This year Schaftenaar's total stats are: 5.6ppg and 4.6rpg in nine games. He plays currently for the Dutch national team.

   #6. Center Henk Norel (213-87, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for Zaragoza (7-15) in their game against Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (10-12) in the Spanish Liga Endesa. Norel scored 7 points. Zaragoza was defeated 93-80 in Madrid by the higher-ranked Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (#10). It was Zaragoza's third consecutive loss in a row. It's Norel's fifth season with the team. He has averaged so far 9.9ppg, 6.2rpg and 1.2apg. Norel is a former international player as he played for the Dutch senior team two years ago.

Former international center Kevin Bleeker (208-93, also represented by Court Side, college: Canisius, currently plays in Spain) was the major contributor in Navarra's victory against the 14th-ranked Gandia (7-16) 66-64 in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) in Saturday night's game. Bleeker scored 12 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and made 2 blocks. Basket Navarra de Pamplona (12-11) is placed tenth in the LEB Silver. Bleeker has averaged so far 6.1ppg and 4.7rpg. He used to play for the Dutch national team three years ago.

Guard Charlon Kloof (190-90, agency: Octagon Europe, college: St.Bonaventure, currently plays in ABA League) couldn't help MZT Skopje (8-17) in their game against Buducnost (18-7) in the ABA League. Kloof recorded 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 29 minutes. MZT Skopje was crushed 92-61 in Podgorica by the much higher-ranked (#4) Buducnost. It was MZT Skopje's third consecutive loss in a row. His team will play only one more game in the ABA League Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Kloof has averaged so far 10.0ppg, 3.5rpg and 3.6apg in 21 games. He plays currently for the Dutch national team.

   #9. Former international power forward Jeroen van der List (213-89, college: Indian Hills CC, currently plays in Japan) couldn't help Shinshu BW (12-31) in their last game. Despite van der List's good performance the sixth-placed Shinshu BW (12-31) lost 63-74 on their home court in Nagano to the leading Gunma in the Central group. He was the second best scorer with 10 points. van der List also added 8 rebounds in 16 minutes. It was Shinshu BW's third consecutive loss in a row. van der List has very impressive stats this year: 15.6ppg, 9.3rpg, 1.5apg and 1.5bpg in 14 games. He used to play for the Dutch national team three years ago.

   #10. Forward Luuk Van Bree (203-96, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to Bradley's victory against the Drake University (5-13) 67-58 in the NCAA last Thursday. Van Bree scored 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. The Bradley University has 7-11 conference record this season. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. Van Bree has averaged so far 6.5ppg and 3.3rpg. He is a former U18 international player as three years ago he still played for the Dutch national team.

   #11. Former U20 international center Menno Dijkstra (213-97, currently studies in the States), who plays in the NCAA couldn't help the Cal-Riverside (5-7) in their last game. Despite Dijkstra's good performance the Cal-Riverside lost 67-76 on their home court in Riverside to the University of California-Irvine. He scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 27 minutes. Dijkstra has averaged so far 6.2ppg and 2.8rpg in 29 games. He used to play for the Dutch U20 national team two years ago.

   #12. Former U20 international forward Niels Bunschoten (206, is currently at the American university) couldn't help the Indiana St. in their game against the University of Evansville in the NCAA. Bunschoten scored 8 points and blocked 2 shots. His team was defeated 83-72. Bunschoten has averaged so far 4.8ppg and 1.4rpg. He used to play for the Dutch U20 national team back in 2014.

   #13. Former international guard Shane Hammink (201-94, currently plays college basketball in the States) couldn't help the Valparaiso in their game against the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in the NCAA. Hammink recorded 7 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 29 minutes. His team was edged 43-41. Hammink has very impressive stats this year: 15.6ppg, 4.0rpg and 2.5apg in 31 games. He used to play for the Dutch national team three years ago.

   #14. Former U20 international center Tom Koopman (203, currently plays college basketball in the States) couldn't help the Citadel in their game against the University of North Carolina, Greensboro in the NCAA. Koopman cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only one point. His team was defeated 76-67. Koopman has averaged so far 2.3ppg and 1.5rpg. He used to play for the Dutch U20 national team back in 2015.

   #15. Former U16 international guard Stefan Topalovic (193-95, currently plays in Germany) contributed to an easy victory against the second-ranked Stade 78-63 in the German Regionalliga (fourth division) last Saturday. Topalovic scored only 2 points. This season he averages just 1.4ppg. Topalovic used to play for the Dutch U16 national team six years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Dutch passport but never been selected to any of Dutch national teams:

   #1. Kim Tillie (210-PF-88, college: Utah, currently plays in Euroleague) led his Spanish team Baskonia to a victory over the league outsider Armani Milano (7-18) 87-74 in the Euroleague in Thursday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Tillie scored 19 points, had 5 boards, dished 3 assists and stole 3 balls in 24 minutes. Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz (14-11) is placed seventh in the Euroleague. This year Tillie averages: 6.5ppg, 3.8rpg and 1.1apg in 24 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Dutch and French.

   #2. Aaron Doornekamp (201-F-85, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Spain) was the main contributor in an CB Canarias' victory against the closely-ranked Real Madrid (15-6) 75-64 in the Spanish Liga Endesa last Saturday. Doornekamp was MVP of the game. He scored 17 points. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Iberostar Tenerife CB Canarias (17-5) is placed first in the Liga Endesa. Doornekamp has relatively good stats this season: 12.5ppg, 4.0rpg and 1.3apg. He is another player who holds two passports: Canadian and Dutch.

   #3. Ryan Broekhoff (200-F-90, college: Valparaiso, currently plays in EuroCup) managed to help Lokomotiv Kuban in a victory against the closely-ranked Zenit (3-3) 88-77 in the Eurocup on Friday night. He scored only 4 points in 21 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Lokomotiv Kuban (5-1) is placed first in the Eurocup. Broekhoff has averaged so far 6.3ppg, 5.1rpg and 1.1apg in 16 games. He has both Australian and Dutch nationalities.

   #4. Kai Edwards (206-F-97, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to a 3-point N.Colorado's victory against the Portland State University (6-8) 87-84 in the NCAA on Thursday night. Edwards scored 18 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. The University of Northern Colorado has rather weak 4-9 conference record this season. It was N.Colorado's third consecutive victory in a row. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. It's Edwards' first year with the team. He has averaged so far 4.6ppg and 5.1rpg.

   #5. Tim Hilhorst (87, currently plays in Norway) contributed to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams Ammerud Bskt (5-22) crushing them 127-43 in a derby game in the Norwegian BLNO on Sunday night. Hilhorst scored 10 points. Centrum Tigers Oslo (16-11) is placed fifth in the BLNO. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Hilhorst's first season with the team. He has averaged so far 6.3ppg and 4.0rpg.

   #6. Shaquille Doorson (213-C-94, currently studies in the States) contributed to a 3-point Rutgers' victory against the University of Illinois 62-59 in the NCAA in Saturday night's game. Doorson recorded only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 9 minutes on the court. He has averaged so far 1.3ppg and 1.7rpg in 31 games.

   #7. Derrik Smits (218-C-95, is currently at the American university), who plays in the NCAA could not help the Valparaiso to beat the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. Smits cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 2 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. His team was edged 43-41. Smits has averaged so far 3.4ppg and 2.2rpg.

   #8. Morgan Stilma (199-F, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an Unicaja B's victory against the sixth-ranked San Fernando 77-68 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) on Sunday night. He recorded 9 points in only 12 minutes. Stilma has averaged so far 9.9ppg and 4.2rpg in 14 games.

   #9. Maikel-Bastiaan Post (207-C-85, currently plays in Germany) contributed to a 2-point Ibbenbueren's victory against the seventh-ranked Salzkotten 84-82 in the German Regionalliga (fourth division) in Saturday night's game. He scored 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Post has averaged so far 9.1ppg and 5.0rpg.

   #10. Daniel Pieper (198-F-96, currently plays in Canada) contributed to a McGill University's victory against the Bisons 63-53 in the Canadian university league CIS last Thursday. He recorded only 2 points in 6 minutes on the court. Pieper has averaged so far 3.3ppg and 2.3rpg in 15 games. He is a naturalized American.

Leiden - Zwolle 81-92 Zwolle outgunned Leiden to even the series at 1-1. The game was mostly controlled by Zwolle. Leiden managed to win second period 23-16.
