Ukraine beat Hungary in Dnepropetrovsk at their start of the 2013 EuroBasket Qualifying Round. The home side grabbed 77:71 win in Group C opener.
More than 5000 came to see the game of the National team in Dnepropetrovsk. Ukraine started well and won the first period 23-20. In the second period Hungary however grabbed the lead and had 41:39 at the halftime. Akos Horvath (194-SG-81) increased to 44:39 early in the fourth, while Trotter nailed three for 52:46. Krisztian Wittmann (184-PG-85, agency: FCM) kept the advantage at 59:57 at the end of the third period, but the guests could not win. Ukraine trailed until the last minute, but managed to seal the victory. Steven Burtt (185-G-84, college: Iona) and Sergii Gladyr (196-SG-88) were perfect from the free throw line for the final success.
Sergii Gladyr paced all the winners with 19 points and Viacheslav Kravtsov (212-C-87, agency: Beo Basket) netted 13. Steven Burtt delivered 12, while Kyryl Natyazhko (208-C-90, agency: Beo Basket, college: Arizona) posted 11. Adam Hanga (200-SG-89, agency: TSS Management) ended up with 21 points in the losing effort and Akos Horvath as well as Miklos Szabo (205-F/C-86, agency: Laszlo Vinko Group, college: Hofstra) added 10 apiece. Krisztian Wittmann followed them with 8 points in a loss.

23-year old center Ismet Sejfic (208-C-93) had a great game in the last round for PVSK Pannon and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 19. He had the game-high 33 points adding nine rebounds for PVSK Pannon in his team's victory, helping them to beat ZTE KK (11-8) 97-89. PVSK Pannon maintains the 7th position in Hungarian league. Joensuun Kataja Basket (Korisliiga) agreed terms with 27-year old American point guard Darryl Bryant (185-93kg-90, college: W.Virginia). He just played at Szolnoki Olajbanyasz in Hungarian A Division. Bryant managed to play in three leagues in two countries this year. In four A Division games he had 3.8ppg and 1.3apg. The game between third ranked Falco KC (12-7) and fourth ranked Kormend (13-6) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Falco KC was defeated by Kormend in Kormend 81-92. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Falco KC. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Kormend.
