Portugal beat Hungary at the Classification Round for 9th to 12th Place of the U18 European Championship in Division B. Portugal won 88:83 and will play for the 9th place. Hungary meanwhile will take on Austria for 11-12th places. It was a hard start for both teams as they stayed close to each other in the first period. Portugal grabbed 22-21 and then added 25-19 in the second quarter. Both teams nailed 16 points each in the third quarter as Portugal kept 7 points advantage after 30 minutes. Hungary managed to win the last stanza 27-25 but reduce to 5 points. Zoltan Perl (194-G-95) and Diogo Ventura (189-PG-94) exchanged the last points from the free throw line for the final result. Andre Miguens (184-SF-94) stepped up with 25 points for the winners and Pedro Bastos (186-PG-94) added 18. Diogo Ventura scored 12, while Pedro Marques (173-PG-95) delivered 9. Zoltan Perl erupted with 31 points in the losing effort. Kristof Bognar (206-C/F-94) notched 15, while Janos Velkey (193-G-95) netted 13.

Hanga, who got drafted by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2nd round in 2011 spent two seasons in a row with Manresa. In his first season he averaged 7.8 points, 2.9 steals and 1.9 assists per game. During summer 2012 he was working out with the Spurs and helped our National Team with 16.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.3 steals in 8 games of the EC qualification. This season he was a key player of Assignia Manresa puting up 11.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 stelas in 25.6 minutes on the court.
