Matt Shaw
Last season Matt Shaw (203-F-88, college: UNLV) played in Estonia where he averaged 14 pts, 7 rebs, and 50.5%fg% and 44.7%3fg% and after the first 1.5 months of the season and he transitioned with his new team he averaged 16pts and 8rebs. The Estonian league has several clubs (Kalev Cramo and Tartu Rock) that compete in the FIBA Europe competitions and also in the VTB United league (top teams from Russia and the old Soviet Union). Matt is extremely skilled, is an excellent "pick and pop" BIG, who is an excellent shooter that is deadly from the "3", and is equally lethal within the arc, as he possesses great accuracy in the midrange. In addition to his ability to face-up, Matt has an effective low post offensive game and is a BIG man at 240lbs who can use his size and physicality to take up space on defense, and use his physicality to his advantage to be an effective low-post defender and rebounder. Matt has the size and physicality to play on the position 5, and the skill & scoring ability to play as a power forward. He can score as effectively back-to-the-basket as
he can face-up, and uses his intelligence and understanding of the game to recognize defenses, mismatches and uses this to be an excellent passer. Matt had a solid NCAA carreer with the UNLV Rebels between 2006 and 2010. As a junior he could celebrate an MWC victory and attended the NCAA tournament, as a sophomore he helped his team with 7.0 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. During the summer 2008 he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, but after a good rehabilitation he run a great senior season in 2009-10 adding 7.0 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.
