There was no lack of interesting games this round. The round ended with defeat of the leader and favorites losing the games.

The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Albacomp (4-1) on the court of seventh ranked Soproni on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by Soproni 79-70. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Albacomp. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 37-27 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Soproni made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Soproni especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. American guard Dontay Thomas (186-G-84, college: La Salle) stepped up and scored 26 points, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners and Montenegrin power forward Filip Barovic (208-90) chipped in 26 points and 5 rebounds. Soproni's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Brandon Wood (187-89, college: Michigan St., agency: N.E.T.) responded with 22 points. Soproni have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Albacomp at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with Falco-Szova and Kaposvari. Soproni is looking forward to face league's second-placed Falco-Szova in Szombathely in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Albacomp will play on the road against Atomeromu in Paks and is hoping to win this game.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Atomeromu (3-2) against fourth ranked Falco-Szova (4-1) on Thursday night. Visiting Atomeromu was crushed by Falco-Szova in Szombathely 106-77. It was a key game for the top position in the league. American power forward Michael Fey (213-83, college: UCLA) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and Branislav Jancikin accounted for 25 points and 6 rebounds. Falco-Szova's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Steven Idlet (210-89, college: Tulsa) came up with 24 points and 9 rebounds for Atomeromu in the defeat. Falco-Szova keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Albacomp and Kaposvari. Atomeromu at the other side dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Falco-Szova will play against Soproni (#4) on the road in the next round. Atomeromu will play against the league's leader Albacomp in Szekesfehervar and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Loser Kormend dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. They share it with ZTE KK. Albacomp will meet Atomeromu (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Kormend will play against the league's second-placed Falco-Szova (#2) in Szombathely.
Bottom-ranked FS Debrecen (0-5) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fifth consecutive match to seventh ranked Soproni (3-2) 97-69. Filip Barovic orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 9 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Soproni have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. FS Debrecen at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Soproni's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Falco-Szova in Szombathely and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. FS Debrecen will play on the road against ZTE KK (#10) in Zalaegerszeg and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in Szeged was also quite interesting. 4th placed Jaszberenyi (3-2) played at the court of sixth ranked Szedeak (3-2). Szedeak defeated Jaszberenyi 88-75 on Friday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Jaszberenyi. Milan Csorvasi stepped up and scored 26 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Szedeak moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Jaszberenyi. Szedeak will face higher ranked Kaposvari (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Jaszberenyi will play against PVSK Pannon in Pecs.

In the last two games of round 5 ZTE KK was destroyed by Marso NYKK on the opponent's court 82-60. PVSK Pannon was outscored by Kaposvari in a home game 56-79.


Marso NYKK - ZTE KK 82-60

Everything could happen in Nyiregyhazi at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Marso NYKK and 10th ranked ZTE KK had identical 1-3 record. This time Marso NYKK used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Zalaegerszeg 82-60 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Marso NYKK. ZTE KK was better in third quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding ZTE KK to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Marso NYKK forced 19 ZTE KK turnovers and had a 34-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Anthony Nelson (185-89, college: Niagara) stepped up and scored 17 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals for the winners and Latvian forward Martins Berkis (198-85, agency: TSS Management) chipped in 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Bosnian center Teo Simovic (205-84) responded with 23 points and 8 rebounds and American-Puerto Rican point guard Donald Copeland (177-84, college: Seton Hall) scored 10 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 118-99. Albacomp shot 62.3 percent from the field and made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Albacomp outrebounded Kormend 37-18 including a 28-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 59.1 percentage.
