Adam Hanga selected the top Hungarian playing abroad in last week's games - Dec 27, 2012

We bring you last week's top performances from Hungarians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international shooting guard Adam Hanga (200-89, agency: TSS Management, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish ACB. He could not help Assignia Manresa (2-12) in their last game. Despite Hanga's very good performance Assignia Manresa was edged 87-86 on the road by the much higher-ranked (#3) Valencia Basket. He was the top scorer with 23 points. Hanga also added 4 steals in 27 minutes on the court. This year Hanga averages: 9.9ppg, 3.8rpg, 1.9apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 47.2%, 3FGP: 30.4% and FT: 69.8% in the 13 games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Hungarian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international power forward Peter Lorant (206-85, agency: Laszlo Vinko Group, currently plays in Italy). Lorant was not able to help Lottomatica Roma (7-5) in their game against Banco di Sardegna Sassari (10-2) in the Italian SerieA. He did not impress in that game on Sunday. Lorant scored only 2 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Lottomatica Roma was edged 83-81 in Sassari by the second-ranked Banco di Sardegna. It's Lorant's first season with the team. His overall stats this year are: 3.8ppg, 3.3rpg, 2FGP: 43.8%, 3FGP: 44.4% and FT: 85.7%. Lorant is in the roster of the Hungarian senior national team.

   #3. The Hungarian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international point guard Obie Trotter (188-84, agency: Court Side, college: Alabama A&M, currently plays in Russia). He was not able to secure a victory for BC Nizhny Novgorod (2-6) in their game against Spartak St.Petersburg (6-3) in the Russian PBL. It was not Trotter's best game last Sunday. He recorded only 3 points and added 5 passes in 25 minutes. BC Nizhny Novgorod was edged 68-67 in St.Petersburg by the higher-ranked (#3) Spartak. Trotter is currently seventh on the list of best passers with 3.7apg. This year his other stats are: 10.3ppg, 3.0rpg, 2FGP: 51.5%, 3FGP: 26.1% and FT: 83.3% in the six games. Trotter is a naturalized American. He is also a member of the Hungarian senior national team. Trotter used to play for Szolnoki Olajbanyasz in Hungarian league.

Gyorgy Kinter
   #4. Center Gyorgy Kinter (213-88, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an Oviedo CB's victory against the sixth-ranked Fontedoso Carrefour (5-5) 75-61 in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) in Saturday night's game. He scored 6 points. Oviedo Club Baloncesto (7-3) is placed second in the LEB Silver. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Kinter's overall stats this season are: 4.0ppg and 1.5rpg. He used to play for the Hungarian university national team last year.


One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Hungarian passport:

   #1. Rosco Allen (206-F, currently plays college basketball in the States) managed to help Stanford University in a 2-point victoryagainst the Northwestern University 70-68 in the NCAA last Friday. Allen recorded only 2 points and added 3 assists in 25 minutes. The Stanford University has conference record this season. This year Allen's overall stats are: 4.0ppg and 1.5rpg in the two games he played so far.

20 year old Hungarian guard, Marcell Pongo (194-PG-97) reached a new agreement with Ratiopharm Ulm and will stay for another year in Germany. The talented guard left Hungary 2 years ago and played mostly for Ratiopharm Ulm's farm team, the Weissenhorn Youngstars. The 2016/2017 season was very successful for Marcell. He was one of the key players for Weissenhorn Youngstas recording 11.6ppg, 4.1rpg, 6.2apg and 2.4spg and leading the team to win the Pro-B championship! After such a success...   [read more]

Falco KC - Kormend 89-88 Kormend was ahead by 2 points after three quarters before a 22-19 charge of Falco KC, which allowed them to win the game. Falco KC had a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Benedek Varadi extends with Falco - 3 days ago
Falco KC Szombathely announced the extension of their current team captain and home grown player, Benedek Varadi(195-G-95). The 195 cm (6'5") player spent his whole career with Falco. He moved up to the senior team and made his debut in the top league of Hungary at the age of 17. The now 22 year old Hungarian guard is one of the key performers in the import loaded team.
