 | Serie A finally at the start. Eurobasket ranking | |
| | | At last, the teams will go on the court for official games, and Eurobasket.com tries to publsh its 2008-09 Serie A preseason ranking. We would divide the 16 teams remained in the race in four groups as we did for Lega 2. The 'Five Stars Teams' however, are only 2: Siena and Roma. We expect Siena to top the table all season long with only Roma able to challenge its supremacy. The 'Four Stars Teams' are Virtus Bologna, Milano, Fortitudo Bologna, Treviso and Avellino. These teams should always stay in the first half of the table, battling for the first seats, and some of them could worry Siena and Roma at the top. Also, it would be really surprisiing if some of them won't qualify for the playoffs, but we don' see them able to go tille the end, winning the title. The 'Three Stars Teams' are Pesaro, Cantu, Caserta and Ferrara. They should not be involved in the battle to avoid relegation and one of them willl fill the last spot in the playoff grid. Our preference in this goes to Pesaro, with Cantu immediately behind. The 'Two Stars Teams' are all the remaining ones: Teramo, Udine, Biella, Montegranaro and Rieti. We expect them battling for avoid the relegation to Lega 2 all season long, none of them seem able to advance to the playoffs, and after the last market moves these teams are very balanced. It will be a looong season for all of them. Let's see ... And here too we wish a very happy season to all players, coaches and, above all, fans. |

 | More News About Avellino | |
| | | We wrongly wrote that Drake Diener (196-G-81, agency: Priority Sports, college: De Paul) was signed by Avellino to substitute Tamar Slay (204-G-80, college: Marshall). But the forward is just injured at the moment and he'll stay in the roster with Travis Best (180-G-72, college: Georgia Tech), Chris Warren (196-F-81, agency: Higher Vision Sports, college: S.Carolina), Drake Diener and Eric Williams (206-C-84, agency: Priority Sports, college: Wake Forest). Slay, last summer, has signed a 2 years contract with Air Avellino, after the great season played at Capo D'Orlando. |
