Montepaschi Siena wins TIM Supercoppa The
traditional season opener challenge beteween the League and the Cup
winner, named "Tim Supercup", had an unexpected result yesterday
night: home team Montepaschi Siena swept Benetton Treviso 96-50.
After a first quarter enough balanced, the two teams were 20-20
during the second quarter, when Treviso stopped to score a single
point for almost 15 minutes, suffering a 0-32 partial that ended the
game and posted a huge question mark in the minds of Benetton
technical staff. In fact, while Siena showed to be yet in great
shape and ready to compete for the Italian title, the Treviso team,
with a new coach and seven new players, most of them arrived during
the last weeks, is very, very behind in the season preparing
process. If all the market choices were right...... However,
Benetton travels to China this week, and this could help them in
building a true group, while Siena grabs the first trophy of the new
season, conquered without sweating a lot.
Benjamin Eze (207-C/F-81, college:
S.Idaho JC) and
Rimantas Kaukenas (193-G-77, college:
Seton Hall) were the best scorers in Siena, with 14 and 13
points respectively, but the Game MVP was
Shaun Stonerook (203-F/C-77, college:
Ohio),
who scored 12 pts, grabbed 9 rebs and stole 8 balls, showing what do
exactly mean the words "point forward". The complete game boxscore

Serie A: Montepaschi is the Champion!
Montepaschi Siena - VidiVici Bologna 90-82 (aggregate 3-0)
Montepaschi won the 2nd title of his history. Even if game 3 wasn't easy for
Siena. Vidivici played with all the proud that has showed in this season, leaded
by an amazing
Andrea Crosariol (212-C-84, college:
Fairleigh Dickinson) that kept the game balanced until 38'. For the young
italian center: 21 points and 9/10 from the field.
Rimantas Kaukenas (193-G-77, college:
Seton Hall) was elected MVP of the finals. In game 3 he had 18 points in 21'
and "the shot" (3+1) that broke the balance in the 4th quarter. But all the
other guys of the backourt were inspired.
Terrell McIntyre (175-G-77, college:
Clemson) had 22p. with 4/6 from 3p.,
Joseph Forte (193-G-81, agency:
Megasport, college:
N.Carolina) 21p.,
Romain Sato (194-G-81, college:
Xavier) 14p., 11r., 3st.
Simone Pianigiani won the title in his first season on the bench. Is the
fourth headcoach of the history that wins that title in his first season.
Vidivici Bologna, anyway, had a great and unexpected season: reached the Italian
Cup final, Fiba Eurocap final four and Serie A final. But most of all showed a
brillant basketball, with the billions of tactical solutions that
Zare Markovski was very able to invent.

Italian TIM Cup 2007 At the end of the 2007 TIM Italy Cup Final Eight,
Spencer
Nelson (203-F-80, college:
Utah St.)
was awarded as the Most Valuable Player of the tournment. In three games, he
totalized 32 points and 27 rebounds, with a continous presence at the both sides
of the court, making everityime all those little, right things to keep his team
on the road to the win.
Benetton Treviso defeated VidiVici Bologna 67-65 in the
Final of Tim Italy Cup 2007. Treviso won using this game
plan: low scoring and controlling the tempo, to limit the
"sparkling" offense of Virtus VidiVici till the end. The
game has been very balanced all the time, and the superior
offensive skills of the Bologna players have been
effectively answered by the hustle and the major experience
of the Treviso veterans, who also managed to outrebound the
opponents. At the end of the game, when started the "free
throws roulette", the experience become the main factor, and
no one was surprised to see the Benetton players hitting
free throws and the VidiVici ones not. Scoring 15 pts and
dishing 4 assits,
Travis Best (180-G-72, college:
Georgia Tech) was the main performer in the loss, and
Vlado Ilievski (190-G-80, agency:
World Sport Agency) and
Guilherme Giovannoni (202-F-80, agency:
Interperformances) added 14 and 12 points, respectively.
Terrell Lyday (191-G-79,
college:
BYU) topped Benetton in scoring with 15,
Marcus Goree (203-F-77, agency:
Passing Lane, college:
W.Virginia) added 14 and
Spencer Nelson (203-F-80, college:
Utah St.) scored 14 points and was the main rebounder of
the game with 13. This is the eight Italy Cup win in the
history of Benetton Treviso, and the second trophy in the
season, after the Italian "Supercup" won in fall.

showed great individual talent, but a littel team game, an expected
consequence of a poor practicing together.
