Grindavik lost last night against Hamar at home, final score 77-87.
Hamar came agressive into the game and played 2:3 zone for 40 minutes. Something that should be hard against all those shooters in Grindavik but they got a 10 pts lead early in the game and Grindavik never made to cut that lead. At the same time Grindavik struggled to get some points in the paint and were lacking ballance big time. Without american last two games the Grindavik team has lost two more games, after first loss at home against Njardvik. Not so often they loose two homegames in a row. Hamar now 3/2 but Grindavik 2/3 and it will be difficult for them to fight for top spot. Thorleifur Olafsson (192-G/F-84) the only player for Grindavik looking like himself, scoring 32 pts. Andre Dabney (175-G, college: Bloomfield) with great game for Hamar; scoring 34 pts and handing out 6 assists. Marvin Valdimarsson scored 21 and Svavar Palsson 12.
Keflavik went up to Selfoss and beat FSu 63-75. Keflavik is now 4/1 in 3rd-4th place while FSu is last on 0/5. Corey Lewis with 20 in his first game for FSu and Christopher Chaird had 16 pts & 9 reb. Rahshon Clark (198-F-84, agency: ZAG Advocates) had 24 pts & 12 reb for Kef, Sigurdur Thorsteinsson 15 & 10 reb and Gunnar Einarsson had 14 pts.
Finally Snaefell had a big win against young Fjolnir team. Final score 110-79 and Snaefell responded strong after bad game against Keflavik in last round. Hlynur Baeringsson (200-F-82) with big numbers; 32 pts, 12 reb, 5 assists & 4 steals. Sigurdur Thorvaldsson also with good game, scoring 28 pts & grabbing 8 reb. Christopher Smith giving Snaefell some problem, scoring 33 pts and grabbing 13 reb.
Next weekend is first round in Subway Cup. Big games coming up as Njardvik will play KR and Cupchampions Stjarnan will have Keflavik for a visit.
