Top ranked Keflavik (20-7) recorded its seventh loss at the home court on Tuesday night. Hosts were edged by third ranked Snaefell (15-11) 61-59. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Hildur Sigurdardottir (178-81) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Jordan Murphree (183-87, college: Texas Tech, agency: Merit Sports) chipped in 12 points and 13 rebounds. Snaefell's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Palina Gunnlaugsdottir (170-87) who recorded a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds. Snaefell maintains third place with 15-11 record having six points less than leader Keflavik. Defending champion Keflavik still keeps top position with seven games lost. Snaefell are looking forward to face Fjolnir (#7) in Reykjavik in the next round. Keflavik will play on the road against KR (#5) in Reykjavik and is hoping to win this game. Very important is a road loss of second ranked Njardvik (19-8) against seventh ranked Fjolnir (9-18) on Wednesday night. Visiting Njardvik was defeated by Fjolnir in Reykjavik 87-76. It was a good game for Australian-Greek power forward Katina Mandylaris (183-85) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 19 rebounds. Britney Jones contributed with 28 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. American Lele Hardy (178-88, college: Clemson, agency: Merit Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 20 rebounds and 7 assists for Njardvik. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fjolnir have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain seventh place with 9-18 record. Njardvik at the other side keeps the second position with eight games lost. Fjolnir will play against higher ranked Snaefell (#3) in Stykkisholmur in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Njardvik will play at home against Valur in Reykjavik and hopes to get back on the winning track. It was a great evening for Tierney Jenkins who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 19 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Erica Prosser with 22 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Haukar moved-up to fourth place. Loser KR dropped to the fifth position with 13 games lost. Haukar will meet bottom-ranked Hamar (#8) on the road in the next round.
