Icelandic National Team played the Lithuanian National Team Olympic team in Vilnius on Tuesday and got handed a 50 point blowout, 101-51 for the home team.

Icelandic National Team never really stood a chance against the strong Lithuanian National squad, trailing 30-10 after the first quarter. Even though Icelandic National Team would fight back in the second quarter, the opposition was way too strong to ever really pose a threat to Lithuania. The high scorers for Icelandic National Team were team captain Hlynur Baeringsson (200-F/C-82) with 13, Jon Stefansson (196-G-82) with 12 and Pavel Ermolinskij (202-G/F-87, agency: I.D.S. Law) with 10.

Icelandic National Team is currently preparing for the Eurobasket 2013 qualification round, which starts in Reykjavik on August 14th against a very strong Serbian National Team squad. Icelandic National Team coach Peter Oqvist said after the game: "If we are to compete against the stronger nations, we have to work better as a team, move the ball better and use our quickness."

The Icelandic squad will return home to finish the preparation for the qualification games, and will hopefully manage to get some favorable results against some strong opposition.

Dominos League Round 3 of Quarter-Finals. KR and Stjarnan reach semifinal stage - 37 minutes ago
Tindastoll - Keflavik 107-80 Tindastoll avoided elimination as they cruised past Keflavik at home court. The game was mostly controlled by Tindastoll. Keflavik managed to win fourth quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tindastoll looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Keflavik's players. The best player for the winners was point guard Bjorgvin Rikhardsson (175-93) who scored 22 points and...   [read more]

Valur - Breidablik 80-82 Breidablik upset Valur on the road to extend the semifinal series. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 22-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for American guard Tyrone Garland (185-92, college: La Salle) who led his team to a victory with 34 points (!!!) and 4 assists. Forward Egill Vignisson (198-91) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American forward Urald King (198-90, college:...   [read more]

Review of Dominos League Round 2 of Quarter-Finals - 3 days ago
Keflavik - Tindastoll 86-80 Keflavik rallied past Tindastoll to take 2-0 lead in the series. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Tindastoll won third quarter 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Keflavik had a 31-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by Tindastoll helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Amin Stevens (203-90, college: Florida A&M) had...   [read more]
