Iceland beat Sweden to finish the campaign on the 13th place. The team overcame the opponents 84:81 as the latter finished on the 14th place at the U18 European Championship in Division B. Sweden took 21-15 in the first period and led 5 points at the halftime. Jadersten gave Sweden 39:34 as the teams disappeared in the lockers. Matthias Sigurdarson (185-PG-94) meanwhile tied the game at 41:41 and Johan Lofberg (199-SG-95) later made the same at 50:50. Iceland however looked better at the end of the frame and reached 68:59 after thirty minutes. Sweden did their best to reduce the gap and cut it to 82:80, but Valur Valsson (182-PG-94) made the last two free throws to seal the victory with his team. Martin Hermannsson (190-SG-94) paced all the winners with 26 points and Matthias Sigurdarson netted 18. Valur Valsson followed them with 12 points in a win. Alexander Gorski (193-SG-94) answered with 16 points in the losing effort, while Johan Lofberg scored 14. Nicholas Spires (209-PF-94) notched 11 and Niklas Larsson (200-SG-94) produced 10.
IR Reykjavik has come to terms with Orvar Kristjansson to coach their team for next three seasons. Stjarnan coach Teitur Orlygsson will stay on as their coach for one more year, after signing an extension earlier this week. He said though that this would be his last season as the head coach of Stjarnan.Teitur signed with Stjarnan in December 2008 and produced a Cup in his first season, and managed to get another one this season. He has also taken Stjarnan forward, from reaching their first playoffs in 2009, to two finals appearances in 2011 and 2013.
