Estonia brings victory from Reykjavik. They claimed a comprehensive victory over Iceland to gain 3-2 record in EuroBasket Qualifying Round Group A. Kristjan Kangur (201-SF-82) delivered 26 points to pace the Baltic team. Iceland fell at 1-4 record after the loss.
Estonia stormed into the game. They accounted for 25 points in the opening quarter to take a 10-point lead. Estonia held the hosts to 12 points in the second frame to ensure an 11-point cushion at halftime. The visitors unloaded 28 points in the third quarter to clear off. They accumulated an insurmountable 24-point advantage before the final stanza. Iceland knocked down 25 points in the final term but could not avoid the loss at the end. Siim-Sander Vene (203-SF-90, agency: Alti Sport) posted 16 points and 9 boards, while Janar Talts (207-PF-83) added 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Jon Stefansson (196-G-82) answered with 19 points for Iceland. Helgi Magnusson (195-SF-82, college: Catawba) chipped in 16 points in the losing effort.
