Estonia brings victory from Reykjavik. They claimed a comprehensive victory over Iceland to gain 3-2 record in EuroBasket Qualifying Round Group A. Kristjan Kangur (201-SF-82) delivered 26 points to pace the Baltic team. Iceland fell at 1-4 record after the loss.
Estonia stormed into the game. They accounted for 25 points in the opening quarter to take a 10-point lead. Estonia held the hosts to 12 points in the second frame to ensure an 11-point cushion at halftime. The visitors unloaded 28 points in the third quarter to clear off. They accumulated an insurmountable 24-point advantage before the final stanza. Iceland knocked down 25 points in the final term but could not avoid the loss at the end. Siim-Sander Vene (203-SF-90, agency: Alti Sport) posted 16 points and 9 boards, while Janar Talts (207-PF-83) added 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Jon Stefansson (196-G-82) answered with 19 points for Iceland. Helgi Magnusson (195-SF-82, college: Catawba) chipped in 16 points in the losing effort.

We bring you last week's top performances from Icelandic who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level. This week's number one is an international small forward Haukur Palsson (197-92). He could not help SPO Rouen (10-13) in their last game. Despite Palsson's very good performance SPO Rouen was badly defeated 94-78 on the road by the much higher-ranked (#5) ADA Blois.    [read more]

Tindastoll - Keflavik 107-80 Tindastoll avoided elimination as they cruised past Keflavik at home court. The game was mostly controlled by Tindastoll. Keflavik managed to win fourth quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tindastoll looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Keflavik's players. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 22-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game.
