Israel climb to 5-3 record in Group A EuroBasket Qualification Round. The team overcame Iceland 92:75 and share the second place with Serbia. Iceland meanwhile dropped at 1-7 record in the group.
Iceland surprised the host in the first period and grabbed 20:17 lead. Israel needed the win more and bounced back with 25-18 in the second quarter. Moreover Israel scored 25 points also in the third and the last quarters. They produced 25-19 in the third period and finished the game with 25-18 in the last stanza. Ohayon made the last points for the winning side from the free throw line.
Omri Casspi (204-SF-88) paced all the winners with 22 points and Lior Eliyahu (203-SF-85, agency: Z.A.G. - Law Offices) collected 20 points and 11 rebounds. Alex Tyus (205-C-88, college: Florida) delivered 19 points and 10 rebounds, whilst Ido Kozikaro (202-C-78) posted 8. Jakob Sigurdarson (192-PG-82, college: Birm.Southern) finished the game with 21 points for the guests and Jon Stefansson (196-G-82) brought 20. Finnur Magnusson (208-C-85, college: Catawba) and Pavel Ermolinskij (202-G-87, agency: I.D.S. Law) followed them with 10 points apiece in defeat.

Iceland U16 finished second in Solna at the Nordic Championship Men U16. The team won 4 games and lost only one to Denmark that became the champion. In Day 1 Iceland U16 rolled over Estonia U16 86:67. The teams were tied at the halftime before a 27-13 burst in the third period.
