We bring you last week's top performances from Icelandic who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Jakob Sigurdarson (192-82, college: Birm.Southern, currently plays in Sweden). He led Sundsvall Dragons to a victory over the ninth-ranked KFUM Jamtland (2-4) crushing them 106-78 in the Swedish Basketligan in Tuesday night's game. Sigurdarson was MVP of the game. He scored 18 points in 22 minutes on the court. Sundsvall Dragons (4-2) is placed fourth in the Basketligan. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. It's Sigurdarson's fourth year with the team. Sigurdarson belongs to league's top scorers and is ranked #5 with 18.8ppg. He also averaged so far 2.2rpg, 2.6apg, 2FGP: 44.4%, 3FGP: 54.3%(19-35) and FT: 93.8%(15-16) in the five games he played so far. Sigurdarson played for the Icelandic senior national team years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international forward Hlynur Baeringsson (200-82, currently plays in Sweden) is a teammate of previously mentioned Jakob Sigurdarson. But that was another game of his team in Swedish Basketligan which we would like to mention. Baeringsson, who plays in the Swedish Basketligan. He could not help Sundsvall Dragons (4-2) in their last game on Thursday. Despite Baeringsson's good performance Sundsvall Dragons was edged 105-102 on the road by the leading Boras Basket. He recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and getting 13 rebounds. Baeringsson also added 4 assists. Baeringsson belongs to league's best rebounders and is ranked #4. He has very reliable stats this season: 13.7ppg, 8.8rpg, 3.2apg, 2FGP: 58.0%(29-50), 3FGP: 42.9% and FT: 77.3%. Baeringsson played for the Icelandic national team in 2012.

   #3. The Icelandic player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard Pavel Ermolinskij (202-87, agency: I.D.S. Law, currently plays in Sweden). He was the main contributor in a Norrkoping Dolphins' victory against the league leader Boras Basket (5-1) 96-79 in the Swedish Basketligan on Tuesday night. Ermolinskij was the best player in that game. He scored 18 points, had 8 boards, dished 5 assists and stole 3 balls (went 6 for 6 at the free throw line) in 25 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Norrkoping Dolphins (4-0) is placed first in the Basketligan. So far his team won all four games in the Regular Season. But the season just started, so everything may happen. It's Ermolinskij's first year with the team. Ermolinskij has relatively good stats this season: 12.8ppg, 4.5rpg, 4.0apg, 1.7spg, 2FGP: 37.5%, 3FGP: 52.4%(11-21) and FT: 83.3% in the six games. He played for the Icelandic national team years ago.

   #4. Point guard Hoerdur Vilhjalmsson (190-88, currently plays in Germany), who plays in the German BBL was not able to help Mitteldeutscher BC (1-4) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Vilhjalmsson's good performance the bottom-ranked Mitteldeutscher BC was defeated 85-73 in Bamberg by the much higher-ranked Brose Baskets (#4). He scored 10 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. This season Vilhjalmsson averages: 8.4ppg, 1.6rpg and 2.0apg. He used to play for the Icelandic national team earlier this year.

   #5. International guard Jon Stefansson (196-82, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for CAI Zaragoza (2-2) in their game against Regal FC Barcelona (2-2) in the Spanish ACB. Stefansson recorded only 4 points in 24 minutes. CAI Zaragoza lost 50-65 at home to the higher-ranked (#8) Regal FC Barcelona. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. This year Stefansson averages just 7.3ppg in the four games. He used to play for the Icelandic national team earlier this year.

   #6. Small forward Axel Karason (194-83, currently plays in Denmark), who plays in the Danish Ligaen couldn't help Vaerlose (2-3) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Karason's very good performance Vaerlose was defeated 75-70 on the opponent's court by the lower-ranked Naestved (#5). He was the second best scorer with 17 points. Karason also added 4 rebounds. . Karason's overall stats this season are: 10.0ppg, 6.9rpg and 1.3apg. He is international player as he played for the Icelandic senior team years ago.

   #7. Former international guard Arnar Jonsson (183-83, currently plays in Denmark), who plays in the Danish Ligaen couldn't help Aarhus BC (3-4) in their last game. Despite Jonsson's good performance Aarhus BC was crushed 105-77 in a derby game by the leading Bakken. He recorded 10 points and added 7 assists in 29 minutes. . This year Jonsson's overall stats are: 7.5ppg, 3.5rpg and 7.5apg in the four games. He used to play for the Icelandic national team six years ago.

   #8. Small forward Haukur Palsson (197-92, college: Maryland, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Assignia Manresa (0-4) in their game against Blancos de Rueda (2-2) in the Spanish ACB. Palsson cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 3 points. Assignia Manresa was edged 83-81 in Valladolid by the higher-ranked Blancos de Rueda (#9). So far Assignia Manresa lost all four games in the Regular Season. . Palsson's total stats this season are: 1.3ppg and 2.3rpg. He used to play for the Icelandic national team earlier this year.

   #9. International shooting guard Logi Gunnarsson (192-81, currently plays in France) couldn't help Angers BC 49 (2-2) in their game against Sorgues (1-4) in the French NM1 (third division). Gunnarsson scored 5 points and added 3 assists in 27 minutes. Angers BC 49 was edged 92-90 on the opponent's court by the much lower-ranked (#15) Sorgues. . This year Gunnarsson has relatively solid stats: 14.0ppg, 3.7rpg and 2.7apg in the three games. He used to play for the Icelandic national team earlier this year.

Grindavik - KR 88-89 KR clinched the second straight win in Dominos League Finals. They nipped Grindavik on the road to step closer to the title. The guests trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 24-21 charge, which allowed them to win the game. KR looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Here is the weekly review of the top performing Icelandic players, who play currently abroad. This week's number one is an international small forward Haukur Palsson (197-92). KR - Grindavik 98-65 KR outgunned Grindavik in Finals opener. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 13-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 98-65. KR dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Grindavik's 30. They outrebounded Grindavik 54-38 including a 46-24 advantage in defensive rebounds.
