American power forward Marcus Van (201-F/C-85) had a great game in the last round for Njardvik, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 4.
The 27-year old player had a double-double of 24 points and 22 rebounds, while his team Njardvik moved-up to the 11th position in the Icelandic Express L.. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 3 games and recorded just one victory. Van turned to be Njardvik's top player in his first season with the team. Former Central Michigan University star has very solid stats this year. Van leads league in rebounds with 17.0rpg. Van is in league's top in and averages impressive 52.0% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Aaron Broussard (195-F-90, agency: JEMsports) of league's second-best Grindavik. Broussard had a very good evening with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. Of course he lead Grindavik to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Njardvik (#11, 1-3) 107-81. This victory allowed Grindavik to move up to second position in the standings. His team's 3-1 record is not bad at all. Broussard is a newcomer at Grindavik, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 24.8ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 6.8rpg and 4.5apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Jay Threatt (180-G-89, agency: Pro One Sports) of Snaefell (#3). Threatt showcased his all-around game by recording 18 points, eleven rebounds (!!!) and ten assists (!!!) in the last round. He was a key player of Snaefell, leading his team to a 104-63 easy win against the lower-ranked KR (#7, 2-2). Snaefell needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 3 victories and 1 lost games. Threatt has a great season in Iceland. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 9.3apg (best passer).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Sammy Zeglinski (182-PG-88) of Grindavik - 26 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists
5. Fannar Helgason (202-C-84) of Stjarnan - 17 points and 13 rebounds
6. Brian Mills (203-F-88) of Stjarnan - 15 points and 12 rebounds
7. Jon Olafur Jonsson (199-F-81) of Snaefell - 27 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists
8. George Valentine (203-F) of Tindastoll - 23 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Arni Ragnarsson (194-SG-87) of Fjolnir - 20 points, 2 rebounds and 7 assists
10. Carlos Medlock (183-G-87) of Skallagrimur - 34 points and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Dominos League Round 10 of Regular Season - 12 hours ago

Dominos League round 10 most important game was a victory of Skallagrimur over 7th ranked Thor Thorl 76-74 on Friday night. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Thor Thorl won fourth quarter 19-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Flenard Whitfield (200-90, college: W.Michigan) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 16 re...   [read more]

D1 Round 12: Hottur edges Hamar by three points - 7 days ago

Fifth-ranked Hamar (4-6) made lots of trouble for first ranked Hottur (10-1) in Egilsstadir on Thursday. Hottur managed to secure only three-point victory 78-75. However their fans expected much easier game. Hamar trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 25-14 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 75-78 at the end of the game.
