24-year old forward Asim McQueen (203-F-88, agency: Pro One Sports) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's best team Snaefell and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 6.
He had a double-double of 25 points and 13 rebounds, while his team beat Fjolnir (#8, 3-3) 102-95. It allowed Snaefell to consolidate first place in the Icelandic league. Snaefell have a solid 5-1 record. McQueen turned to be Snaefell's top player in his first season with the team. Tulane University graduate has very impressive stats this year. McQueen is in league's top in rebounds (5th best: 10.0rpg) and averages solid 68.1% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Sammy Zeglinski (182-PG-88) of Grindavik. He is American guard in his first season at Grindavik. In the last game Zeglinski recorded impressive triple-double of 25 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. Of course Grindavik cruised to a 93-86 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Skallagrimur (#5, 3-2). This victory allowed Grindavik to move up to 3rd position in the standings. His team's 4-2 record is not bad at all. Zeglinski is a newcomer at Grindavik and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 24.5ppg (#3). His other stats are also decent: 6.7rpg and 7.0apg.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Justin Shouse (180-G-81) of league's second-best Stjarnan. Shouse showcased his all-around game by recording 26 points, eight rebounds and thirteen assists (!!!) in the last round. He was a key player of Stjarnan, leading his team to a 89-69 easy win against the lower-ranked IR (#9, 2-4). Stjarnan is closer and closer to the top of the standings. They will still need more victories. But 5-1 record is not that bad... Shouse has a great season in Iceland. After only 6 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 24.8ppg (best scorer) and assists with 9.8apg (best passer). Justin Shouse has also Icelandic passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Haminn Quaintance (201-F-85) of Skallagrimur - 23 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists
5. Darrel Lewis (192-G-76) of Keflavik - 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists
6. Brian Mills (203-F-88) of Stjarnan - 21 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists
7. Michael Craion (195-F-89) of Keflavik - 21 points and 17 rebounds
8. Jon Olafur Jonsson (199-F-81) of Snaefell - 32 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Marvin Valdimarsson (198-G/F-81) of Stjarnan - 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists
10. Arni Ragnarsson (194-SG-87) of Fjolnir - 13 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

D1 Round 4 of Semi-Finals. Breidablik and Fjolnir force deciders - 2 days ago
Breidablik - Valur 75-72 Breidablik held off Valur to force the decisive fifth game in the series. It looked good early as Valur took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Breidablik had a 22-16 second period charge getting the lead and Valur was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-75. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Tyrone Garland (185-92, college: La Salle) who helped to win the game recording 35 points (!!!) and guard...   [read more]

We bring you last week's top performances from Icelandic who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level. This week's number one is an international small forward Haukur Palsson (197-92). He could not help SPO Rouen (10-13) in their last game. Despite Palsson's very good performance SPO Rouen was badly defeated 94-78 on the road by the much higher-ranked (#5) ADA Blois.    [read more]
