Benjamin
Smith
American guard Benjamin Smith (178-G-87) put on an amazing game in the last round for Thor Thorl, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 7.
The 25-year old player had a double-double of 46 points and 10 rebounds, while his team beat Fjolnir (#8, 3-4) 92-83. Thor Thorl is placed at 5th position in Icelandic Express L.. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Thor Thorl will need more victories to improve their 4-2 record. In the team's last game Smith had a remarkable 61.5% from 2-point range and got seven three-pointers out of 12 attempts. He turned to be Thor Thorl's top player in his first season with the team. Former Jacksonville University star has very solid stats this year. Smith is league's best scorer averaging so far 26.3ppg. Smith is in league's top in and averages impressive 2.2spg and 46.8% from behind 3-point line.

The second best player in last round's games was 27-year old American Haminn Quaintance (201-F-85, agency: Z.A.G. - Law Offices) of Skallagrimur. Quaintance had a very good evening with a double-double of 29 points and 19 rebounds. Bad luck as Skallagrimur lost that game 72-81 to slightly higher-ranked Keflavik (#6, 4-3). This loss caused Skallagrimur to drop to 7th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 3-3 record is not bad and everything may still change. Quaintance is a newcomer at Skallagrimur, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Michael Craion (195-F-89, agency: Ronsport) of Keflavik (#6). Craion scored 25 points and grabbed fifteen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Keflavik, leading his team to a 81-72 win against slightly lower-ranked Skallagrimur (#7, 3-3). Keflavik needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 4 victories and 3 lost games. Craion has a great season in Iceland. After only 7 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 12.0rpg (3rd best). He also has 1.3bpg and FGP: 61.2%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Elvar Fridriksson (180-PG-94) of Njardvik - 21 points, 3 rebounds and 10 assists
5. Brian Mills (203-F-88) of Stjarnan - 27 points and 11 rebounds
6. Justin Shouse (180-G-81) of Stjarnan - 15 points, 6 rebounds and 14 assists
7. Darrell Flake (193-F-80) of Thor Thorl - 23 points and 11 rebounds
8. Sveinn Davidsson (192-F-86) of Snaefell - 20 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Marcus Van (201-F/C-85) of Njardvik - 17 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Aaron Broussard (195-F-90) of Grindavik - 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
