American Britney Jones (172-G-87) had a great game in the last round for Fjolnir and that's her to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 14. The 25-year old guard got a double-double of 40 points and twelve assists, while her team lost the game against the league's best team Keflavik (#1, 14-0) 92-103. Fjolnir maintains the 8th position in Icelandic Express L.. The season is in a full swing, so it's only a dream for the team to make it into top half of the standings. For contrary they may face relegation if the situation turns from bad to worse. Fjolnir have already lost 12 games and recorded just two victories. It's Jones' second year at Fjolnir and it's hard to imagine this team without her. University of Alabama at Birmingham graduate has very impressive stats this year. Jones is league's best scorer averaging so far 30.8ppg. Jones is in league's top in assists (3rd best: 5.5apg) and averages solid 1.3bpg and 3.0spg.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 24-year old American swingman Siarre Evans (178-G/F-88) of Haukar. Evans impressed basketball fans with a triple-double of 15 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists. Of course Haukar cruised to a 73-64 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Grindavik (#6, 4-10). Haukar's 5th position in the standings has not changed. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 6-8 record. Evans is a newcomer at Haukar and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.2ppg (#4). Her other stats are also decent: 19.3rpg and 3.4apg.
The third best performed player last round was American Patechia Hartman (170-G-83, agency: Gamble Sports Management) of KR (#3). Hartman showcased her all-around game by recording 25 points, eleven rebounds (!!!) and six assists in the last round. Despite Hartman's great performance KR lost 61-72 to #2 ranked Snaefell. But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing KR needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 9 victories and 5 lost games. Hartman has a great season in Iceland. After 14 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 15.7ppg (9th best) and assists with 5.6apg (2nd best).
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
