   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Jakob Sigurdarson (192-82, college: Birm.Southern, currently plays in Sweden). He led Sundsvall Dragons to a victory over the league outsider Nassjo (3-18) 101-87 in the Swedish Basketligan in Friday night's game. Sigurdarson was MVP of the game. He scored 33 points (!!!), made 3 passes and 3 steals in 32 minutes on the court. Sundsvall Dragons (19-3) is placed first in the Basketligan. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Sigurdarson's fourth season with the team. Sigurdarson is currently fourth on the league's list of top scorers with 17.8ppg. He also averaged so far 2.9rpg, 3.0apg, 2FGP: 53.3%, 3FGP: 37.9% and FT: 92.7%(89-96) in the 21 games he played so far. Sigurdarson is currently a member of the Icelandic senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international forward Hlynur Baeringsson (200-82, currently plays in Sweden) is a teammate of previously mentioned Jakob Sigurdarson. But that was another game of his team in Swedish Basketligan which we would like to mention. Baeringsson was the main contributor in a 3-point Sundsvall Dragons' victory against the seventh-ranked 08 Stockholm (11-11) 86-83. He was the best player in that game. Baeringsson recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points and getting 12 rebounds (made all of his thirteen free throws !!!). Sundsvall Dragons (19-3) is placed first in the Basketligan. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Baeringsson is ranked first on the list of the best rebounders in the league. He has very reliable stats this season: 14.4ppg, 10.4rpg, 3.5apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 57.1%(96-168), 3FGP: 35.7% and FT: 76.4%. Baeringsson is in the roster of the Icelandic senior national team.

   #3. The Icelandic player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard Pavel Ermolinskij (202-87, agency: I.D.S. Law, currently plays in Sweden), who plays in the Swedish Basketligan. He could not help Norrkoping Dolphins (16-1) in their last game. Despite Ermolinskij's good performance the league leader Norrkoping Dolphins lost 77-83 on the road to the much lower-ranked (#8) LF Basket. He was the top scorer with 13 points. Ermolinskij also added 6 rebounds in 25 minutes. Ermolinskij is ranked third on the list of the best passers in the league with 4.6apg. This year his other stats are: 10.6ppg, 6.5rpg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 52.3%, 3FGP: 36.5% and FT: 81.5% in the 18 games. Ermolinskij is also a member of the Icelandic senior national team.

Point guard Hoerdur Vilhjalmsson (194-88, currently plays in Germany) contributed to a Mitteldeutscher BC's victory against the closely-ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners (6-12) 73-65 in the German BBL in Saturday night's game. He was the top player that evening. Vilhjalmsson recorded 16 points. Mitteldeutscher BC Weissenfels (8-10) is placed 13th in the BBL. Vilhjalmsson has relatively good stats this season: 10.7ppg, 2.4rpg and 2.2apg. He is also Icelandic national team player.

International small forward Axel Karason (194-83, currently plays in Denmark) was the major contributor in Vaerlose's victory against the league leader SISU (13-0) 79-78 in the Danish Ligaen last Thursday. Karason scored 18 points, had 9 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 37 minutes. Vaerlose BBK (6-8) is placed fifth in the Ligaen. They ended the series of three consecutive loses. This year Karason has relatively solid stats: 10.9ppg, 7.2rpg and 1.7apg in the 19 games. He plays currently for the Icelandic national team.

   #6. Shooting guard Logi Gunnarsson (192-81, currently plays in France), who plays in the French NM1 (third division) was not able to help Angers BC 49 (5-9) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Gunnarsson's good performance Angers BC 49 was defeated 67-58 at home by the second-ranked Quimper UJAP. He was the second best scorer with 14 points. Gunnarsson also added 3 passes. It's Gunnarsson's first season with the team. He has reliable stats this year: 12.2ppg, 2.7rpg and 2.8apg. Gunnarsson is an international player who is currently on the senior Icelandic National Team roster.

International small forward Haukur Palsson (197-92, college: Maryland, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for Assignia Manresa (2-15) in their game against Caja Laboral (14-3) in the Spanish ACB. He scored only 4 points in 8 minutes on the court. The bottom-ranked Assignia Manresa lost in an overtime 95-101 in Vitoria to the second-ranked Caja Laboral. It was Assignia Manresa's fourth consecutive loss in a row. This year Palsson's overall stats are: 1.5ppg and 1.1rpg in the 15 games. He is also Icelandic national team player.

   #8. Center Gudni Valentinusson (204-85, currently plays in Denmark) couldn't help Aarhus BC (5-14) in their game against Svendborg (17-2) in the Danish Ligaen. Valentinusson scored 9 points. But Aarhus BC was crushed 83-61 on the opponent's court by the leading Svendborg. It was Aarhus BC's seventh consecutive loss in a row. This season Valentinusson averages: 4.1ppg and 2.2rpg. He used to play for the Icelandic U20 national team back in 2005.

   #9. Former international guard Arnar Jonsson (183-83, currently plays in Denmark) is a teammate of previously mentioned Gudni Valentinusson and both played together in the last Danish Ligaen game. Jonsson couldn't help Aarhus BC (5-14) in their game against Svendborg (17-2). He scored 8 points and added 4 assists in 25 minutes. Aarhus BC was crushed 83-61 on the opponent's court by the leading Svendborg. This year Jonsson's total stats are: 6.8ppg, 2.6rpg, 4.2apg and 1.1spg in the 16 games. He used to play for the Icelandic national team seven years ago.

Dominos League Round 3: Grindavik loses to KR - 12 hours ago

It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in Dominos League, but even now we can clearly see the differece between stronger teams and outsiders. The biggest surprise of round 3 in Dominos League took place in Reykjavik where host KR (3-0) crushed Grindavik (2-1) 87-62 on Thursday evening. The game was mostly controlled by KR. Aaron Moss' triple-double lands him D1 Player of the Week award - 19 hours ago

American Guard Aaron Moss (185-G, agency: Duran International) had a great game in the last round for top-ranked Hottur, receiving a D1 Player of the Week award for round 4. The player recorded a triple-double of 23 points adding also 16 rebounds and 12 assists, while his team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team IA (#9, 0-4) with 61-point margin 131-70. After 4 rounds played we can already see who rules in the D1 and who belongs to weaker ones. The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Valur (2-1) in Reykjavik on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Fjolnir (3-1) 101-89. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Valur. It was a key game for the second position in the league.
