The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Reykjavik: KR (#4) and Fjolnir (#8). KR (10-8) won against visiting Fjolnir (2-16) 74-69. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 42-35 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. KR forced 22 Fjolnir turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when KR made 7 blocks. It was a good game for American guard Shannon McCallum (177-87, college: Charlotte) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 43 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 5 blocks. The former international power forward Sigrun Amundadottir (181-88, agency: Promotex) contributed with 17 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. American guard Britney Jones (172-87, college: UAB) replied with 28 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for Fjolnir. KR maintains fourth position with 10-8 record. Fjolnir lost eighth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 16 games lost. KR are looking forward to face Njardvik (#6) on the road in the next round. Fjolnir will play against Haukar in Hafnarfjordur and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
Express L. top team - Keflavik (17-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat sixth ranked Njardvik (5-13) 99-83. American guard Jessica Jenkins (172-90, college: St.Bonaventure) scored 33 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and Sara Run Hinriksdottir chipped in 17 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American Lele Hardy (182-88, college: Clemson, agency: Merit Sports) with a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 24 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Keflavik have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 17-1 record. Defending champion Njardvik keeps the sixth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Grindavik. Keflavik will play against league's second-placed Snaefell in Stykkisholmur in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Njardvik will play at home against KR (#4) in Reykjavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Hafnarfjordur was also quite interesting. Third ranked Valur (11-7) played at the court of 5th ranked Haukar (8-10). Valur managed to secure a 5-point victory 66-61 on Wednesday. Kristrun Sigurjonsdottir notched 25 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort. Even a double-double of 19 points, 16 rebounds and 8 assists by Siarre Evans did not help to save the game for Haukar. Valur have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 11-7 record having six points less than leader Keflavik. Haukar at the other side keeps the fifth place with ten games lost. Valur will meet at home Grindavik (#7) in the next round. Haukar will play against Fjolnir in Reykjavik and hope to secure a win.
The game in Grindavik was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Snaefell (14-4) played at the court of 7th ranked Grindavik (5-13). Snaefell managed to secure a 5-point victory 76-71. The best player for the winners was Kieraah Marlow who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. Grindavik's coach Johann Olafsson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Snaefell have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 14-4 record having just three points less than leader Keflavik. Grindavik lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the sixth place with 13 games lost. Snaefell's next round opponent will be league's leader Keflavik at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. Grindavik will play against Valur (#3) in Reykjavik.

Haukar - Valur 61-66

Express L. top team - Keflavik (17-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat sixth ranked Njardvik (5-13) 99-83. Njardvik was ahead by 14 points at the halftime before a 62-32 second half run of Keflavik. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Njardvik's 36. Keflavik forced 23 Njardvik turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Keflavik brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. American guard Jessica Jenkins (172-90, college: St.Bonaventure) scored 33 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and forward Sara Run Hinriksdottir (165-96) chipped in 17 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Grindavik - Snaefell 71-76

The game in Grindavik was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Snaefell (14-4) played at the court of 7th ranked Grindavik (5-13). Snaefell managed to secure a 5-point victory 76-71. It looked good early as Grindavik took an 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Snaefell had a 18-8 second period charge getting the lead and Grindavik was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-76. Snaefell dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Grindavik's 34. They outrebounded Grindavik 47-27 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Kieraah Marlow (178-85) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Rebekka Karlsdottir (157-96) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Crystal Smith (168-84, college: Iowa) who recorded 27 points and 6 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and the former international forward Petrunella Skuladottir (177-85) added 22 points and 7 rebounds respectively.
