Top ranked Keflavik (18-2) recorded its second loss at the home court on Wednesday night. Hosts were rolled over by third ranked Valur (13-7) 97-78. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Keflavik. The game was mostly controlled by Valur. Keflavik managed to win second period 24-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Valur forced 20 Keflavik turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Valur made 12 blocks. The best player for the winners was American guard Jaleesa Butler (185-87, college: Georgetown) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 blocks. The former international forward Kristrun Sigurjonsdottir (176-85) chipped in 31 points and 4 assists. The former international forward Birna Valgardsdottir (181-76) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds for the hosts. Valur have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 13-7 record having five points less than leader Keflavik. Keflavik at the other side still keeps top place with two games lost. Valur are looking forward to face Njardvik (#7) at home in the next round. Keflavik will play against Fjolnir (#8) in Reykjavik and is hoping to win this game.
The game in Njardvik supposed to be also worth to mention about. Second ranked Snaefell (15-5) played at the court of 6th ranked Njardvik (5-15). Snaefell did not have too big problems ending evening with a very confident victory 78-61. American forward Kieraah Marlow (178-85) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds. Rebekka Karlsdottir contributed with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American Lele Hardy (182-88, college: Clemson, agency: Merit Sports) replied with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds for Njardvik. Njardvik's coach Lele Hardy rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Snaefell maintains second position with 15-5 record having just three points less than leader Keflavik. Njardvik lost third consecutive game. Defending champion dropped to the seventh place with 15 games lost. Snaefell will play against KR (#4) in Reykjavik in the next round. Njardvik will play on the road against Valur in Reykjavik and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Grindavik. Local Grindavik (6-14) outscored 8th ranked Fjolnir (3-17) 90-64 on Wednesday night. Worth to mention a quality performance of Crystal Smith who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Britney Jones responded with 19 points and 7 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Grindavik moved-up to sixth place. Loser Fjolnir stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Grindavik will meet higher ranked Haukar (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Fjolnir will play against the league's leader Keflavik and hope to secure a win.

In the last game of round 20 Haukar was crushed by KR in Reykjavik 73-54.
The best stats of 20th round was 38 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds by Shannon McCallum of KR.


KR - Haukar 73-54

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked Haukar's (8-12) road loss to fourth ranked KR (12-8) 54-73 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by KR. Haukar managed to win third quarter 18-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They held Haukar to an opponent 21.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 36.5 percent accuracy of the winners. KR forced 22 Haukar turnovers. Strangely Haukar outrebounded KR 64-46 including a 24-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Shannon McCallum (177-87, college: Charlotte) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds and the former international power forward Sigrun Amundadottir (181-88, agency: Promotex) who added 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. KR's coach Finnur Stefansson used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American swingman Siarre Evans (178-88, college: E.Tenn.St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 31 rebounds and guard Gunnhildur Gunnarsdottir (175-90) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. KR have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 12-8 record. Haukar lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 12 games lost. KR will meet league's second-placed Snaefell in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Haukar will play against Grindavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Snaefell led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Snaefell outrebounded Njardvik 54-31 including a 37-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Kieraah Marlow (178-85) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds. U.M.F. Grindavik (D1) re-signed 22-year old international guard Ingunn Kristinardottir (170-95). She has played there for the last two seasons. In 26 Dominos League games she averaged 10.1ppg, 5.1rpg, 2.1apg and 1.6spg last season. D1 will be definitely a better match and she can see more playing time. Snaefell (Dominos League) tabbed 27-year old American swingman Kristen McCarthy (182-90, college: Temple). It is actually her comeback to Stykkisholmur as she has played here before. McCarthy played most recently at Eisvogel USC Freiburg in German DBBL. She managed to play in three leagues last year (!!!). Keflavik (Dominos League) signed 23-year old American guard Brittanny Dinkins (170-94). She just graduated from S.Mississippi (NCAA). Dinkins has played there for the last four years. In 33 games she had very impressive stats: 18.6ppg, 4.1rpg, 3.8apg and 3.1spg last season. She helped them to make it to the final.
