American Shannon McCallum (177-G-87) had a very impressive game in the last round for KR and that's her to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 20. The 25-year old guard had a double-double of 38 points and fourteen rebounds, while her team crushed Haukar (#5, 8-12) with 19-point margin 73-54. KR maintains the 4th position in Icelandic Express L.. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. KR will need more victories to improve their 12-8 record. In the team's last game McCallum had a remarkable 55.6% from 2-point range. She just recently signed at KR, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Shannon McCallum averages this season 36.8ppg, 13.3rpg and 4.5apg.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 27-year old former international forward Kristrun Sigurjonsdottir (176-F-85) of Valur. Sigurjonsdottir impressed basketball fans with 31 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course she lead Valur to another comfortable win 97-78 over slightly higher-ranked Keflavik (#1, 18-2) being unquestionably team leader. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Valur consolidated its place in top 3 of the standings. Her team's 13-7 record is not bad at all. The third best performed player last round was American Lele Hardy (182-SF-88, agency: Merit Sports) of Njardvik (#7). Hardy got into 30-points club by scoring 35 points in the last round. She went also for sixteen rebounds . Despite Hardy's great performance Njardvik lost 61-78 to the higher-ranked Snaefell (#2, 15-5). But her team cannot count on just a single shooter as she also needs help of the other teammates. Njardvik can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 5-15 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Hardy she does not play for a better team.
