Grindavik (#6) forced the game against Haukar (#5) into a double-overtime, but lost by ten points 83-93 on Sunday night. It was a good game for Siarre Evans who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists. Haukar maintains fifth place with 9-12 record. Newly promoted Grindavik keeps the sixth position with 15 games lost. Haukar will face league's leader Keflavik at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Grindavik will play against KR (#4) in Reykjavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The most impressive performance of 21th round was 38 points (!!!), 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals by Crystal Smith of Grindavik.

Valur - Njardvik 63-69

There was a surprise result when seventh ranked Njardvik (6-15) beat 3rd placed Valur (13-8) in Reykjavik 69-63 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 39-29 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Njardvik forced 28 Valur turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Njardvik made 8 blocks. It was a good game for American Lele Hardy (182-88, college: Clemson, agency: Merit Sports) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 22 rebounds and 6 assists. Center Salbjorg Saevarsdottir (182-91) contributed with 7 points, 5 rebounds and 7 blocks for the winners. American guard Jaleesa Butler (185-87, college: Georgetown) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and the former international center Ragna Brynjarsdottir (188-90) added 12 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Valur. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Grindavik. Valur at the other side keeps the third position with eight games lost. Njardvik will face bottom-ranked Fjolnir (#8) in Reykjavik in the next round. Valur will play at home against the league's second-placed Snaefell (#2) in Stykkisholmur and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Haukar - Grindavik 93-83 2OT

Grindavik (#6) forced the game against Haukar (#5) into a double-overtime, but lost by ten points 83-93 on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by Haukar. Grindavik was better in second period 14-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Grindavik used huge pressure winning it 18-16 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually double-overtime period 12-12. Haukar dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Grindavik's 32. Haukar forced 19 Grindavik turnovers and outrebounded them 52-41 including 20 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Haukar made 7 blocks. It was a good game for American swingman Siarre Evans (178-88, college: E.Tenn.St.) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Gunnhildur Gunnarsdottir (175-90) contributed with 16 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals for the winners. There was a minor upset when second-best Snaefell (15-6) lost to fourth ranked KR (13-8) in Stykkisholmur 64-72 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 8 points at the halftime before their 37-21 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for American guard Shannon McCallum (177-87, college: Charlotte) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 45 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds. The former international power forward Sigrun Amundadottir (181-88, agency: Promotex) contributed with 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Alda Jonsdottir (179-79) answered with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international guard Hildur Sigurdardottir (178-81) added 14 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Snaefell. Keflavik - Snaefell 70-50 Keflavik celebrated Dominos League title. They dethroned Snaefell beating those in four games of the title series. The game was mostly controlled by Keflavik.
