Here is the weekly review of the top performing Icelandic players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Jakob Sigurdarson (192-82, college: Birm.Southern, currently plays in Sweden). He led Sundsvall Dragons to a victory over one of league's weakest teams Eco Orebro (5-22) 82-76 in the Swedish Basketligan in Tuesday night's game. Sigurdarson was MVP of the game. He scored 31 points (!!!), had 5 rebounds, passed 3 assists and added 2 blocks in 41 minutes on the court. Sundsvall Dragons (23-4) is placed first in the Basketligan. It's Sigurdarson's fourth season with the team. Sigurdarson is ranked fifth on the list of the top scorers in the league with 18.2ppg. He also averaged so far 3.3rpg, 2.8apg, 2FGP: 51.4%, 3FGP: 36.8% and FT: 91.3%(115-126) in the 26 games he played so far. Sigurdarson is currently a member of the Icelandic senior national team.

Second place goes to an international forward Hlynur Baeringsson (200-82, currently plays in Sweden) is a teammate of previously mentioned Jakob Sigurdarson and both played together in the last Swedish Basketligan game. Baeringsson contributed to a Sundsvall Dragons' victory against one of league's weakest teams Eco Orebro (5-22) 82-76. He scored 11 points, had 8 boards, passed 5 assists and added 4 steals. Baeringsson is currently first on the list of best rebounders. He has very reliable stats this season: 14.1ppg, 10.3rpg, 3.7apg, 1.4spg, 2FGP: 58.6%(116-198), 3FGP: 35.2% and FT: 75.2%. Baeringsson is in the roster of the Icelandic senior national team.

   #3. The Icelandic player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard Pavel Ermolinskij (202-87, agency: I.D.S. Law, currently plays in EuroChallenge), who plays in Sweden. He could not help Norrkoping Dolphins (1-3) to beat Krasnie Krilya (4-0). Ermolinskij recorded 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in 27 minutes. But the third-placed Norrkoping Dolphins was crushed 93-68 on the road by the leading Krasnie Krilya in the group K of EuroChallenge. There are only two games left until the end of the EuroChallenge Top 16. So now every game will be critical. It's Ermolinskij's first season with the team. This year he averages: 5.2ppg, 5.0rpg, 4.2apg, 2FGP: 44.7%, 3FGP: 11.1% and FT: 56.3% in the 10 games. Ermolinskij is also a member of the Icelandic senior national team.

   #4. Small forward Axel Karason (194-83, currently plays in Denmark) helped Vaerlose win their game against the league outsider Aalborg (1-21) 88-73 in the Danish Ligaen in Thursday night's game. He scored 9 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Vaerlose BBK (8-10) is placed fifth in the Ligaen. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Karason has relatively good stats this season: 11.3ppg, 7.4rpg and 1.7apg. He is also Icelandic national team player.

International point guard Hoerdur Vilhjalmsson (194-88, currently plays in Germany) managed to help Mitteldeutscher BC Weissenfels in a victory against the fourth-ranked Eisbaeren Bremerhaven 74-64 in the German BBL last Sunday. Vilhjalmsson recorded only 2 points in 17 minutes. Mitteldeutscher BC Weissenfels (9-13) is placed 14th in the BBL. This year Vilhjalmsson's overall stats are: 9.1ppg, 2.3rpg and 2.1apg in the 22 games. He plays currently for the Icelandic national team.

   #6. Center Gudni Valentinusson (204-85, currently plays in Denmark) was not able to help Aarhus BC (6-18) in their game against Svendborg (21-2) in the Danish Ligaen. Valentinusson did not beat the league record on Wednesday evening. He scored only 2 points. Aarhus BC was badly defeated 86-67 on the opponent's court by the leading Svendborg. It was Aarhus BC's 11th consecutive loss in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. Valentinusson's total stats this season are: 3.6ppg and 2.0rpg. He is a former U20 international player as he played for the Icelandic team eight years ago.

American Forward Amin Stevens (203-F-90) had a great game in the last round for Keflavik, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 14. The 26-year old player had a double-double of 33 points and 19 rebounds, while his team crushed, the league's bottom-ranked team Snaefell (#12, 0-14) with 22-point margin 97-75. American Tyrone Garland (185-G-92) put on an amazing game in the last round for Breiablik and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com D1 Player of the Week award for round 17. The 24-year old guard had the game-high 41 points adding three rebounds and two assists for Breidablik in his team's victory, helping them to crush IA (#8, 4-11) with 20-point margin 111-91. D1 Round 17: Armann still unable to win any game - 2 days ago
Bottom-ranked Armann (0-16) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 98-81 loss to sixth ranked Vestri (6-8) in on Friday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Vestri. Armann managed to win third quarter 25-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening.
