Here is the weekly review of the top performing Icelandic players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Jakob Sigurdarson (192-82, college: Birm.Southern, currently plays in Sweden). He led Sundsvall Dragons to a victory over one of league's weakest teams Eco Orebro (5-22) 82-76 in the Swedish Basketligan in Tuesday night's game. Sigurdarson was MVP of the game. He scored 31 points (!!!), had 5 rebounds, passed 3 assists and added 2 blocks in 41 minutes on the court. Sundsvall Dragons (23-4) is placed first in the Basketligan. It's Sigurdarson's fourth season with the team. Sigurdarson is ranked fifth on the list of the top scorers in the league with 18.2ppg. He also averaged so far 3.3rpg, 2.8apg, 2FGP: 51.4%, 3FGP: 36.8% and FT: 91.3%(115-126) in the 26 games he played so far. Sigurdarson is currently a member of the Icelandic senior national team.

Second place goes to an international forward Hlynur Baeringsson (200-82, currently plays in Sweden) is a teammate of previously mentioned Jakob Sigurdarson and both played together in the last Swedish Basketligan game. Baeringsson contributed to a Sundsvall Dragons' victory against one of league's weakest teams Eco Orebro (5-22) 82-76. He scored 11 points, had 8 boards, passed 5 assists and added 4 steals. Baeringsson is currently first on the list of best rebounders. He has very reliable stats this season: 14.1ppg, 10.3rpg, 3.7apg, 1.4spg, 2FGP: 58.6%(116-198), 3FGP: 35.2% and FT: 75.2%. Baeringsson is in the roster of the Icelandic senior national team.

   #3. The Icelandic player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard Pavel Ermolinskij (202-87, agency: I.D.S. Law, currently plays in EuroChallenge), who plays in Sweden. He could not help Norrkoping Dolphins (1-3) to beat Krasnie Krilya (4-0). Ermolinskij recorded 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in 27 minutes. But the third-placed Norrkoping Dolphins was crushed 93-68 on the road by the leading Krasnie Krilya in the group K of EuroChallenge. There are only two games left until the end of the EuroChallenge Top 16. So now every game will be critical. It's Ermolinskij's first season with the team. This year he averages: 5.2ppg, 5.0rpg, 4.2apg, 2FGP: 44.7%, 3FGP: 11.1% and FT: 56.3% in the 10 games. Ermolinskij is also a member of the Icelandic senior national team.

   #4. Small forward Axel Karason (194-83, currently plays in Denmark) helped Vaerlose win their game against the league outsider Aalborg (1-21) 88-73 in the Danish Ligaen in Thursday night's game. He scored 9 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Vaerlose BBK (8-10) is placed fifth in the Ligaen. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Karason has relatively good stats this season: 11.3ppg, 7.4rpg and 1.7apg. He is also Icelandic national team player.

International point guard Hoerdur Vilhjalmsson (194-88, currently plays in Germany) managed to help Mitteldeutscher BC Weissenfels in a victory against the fourth-ranked Eisbaeren Bremerhaven 74-64 in the German BBL last Sunday. Vilhjalmsson recorded only 2 points in 17 minutes. Mitteldeutscher BC Weissenfels (9-13) is placed 14th in the BBL. This year Vilhjalmsson's overall stats are: 9.1ppg, 2.3rpg and 2.1apg in the 22 games. He plays currently for the Icelandic national team.

   #6. Center Gudni Valentinusson (204-85, currently plays in Denmark) was not able to help Aarhus BC (6-18) in their game against Svendborg (21-2) in the Danish Ligaen. Valentinusson did not beat the league record on Wednesday evening. He scored only 2 points. Aarhus BC was badly defeated 86-67 on the opponent's court by the leading Svendborg. It was Aarhus BC's 11th consecutive loss in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. Valentinusson's total stats this season are: 3.6ppg and 2.0rpg. He is a former U20 international player as he played for the Icelandic team eight years ago.

Grindavik - Thor Thorl 93-82 Grindavik shot down Thor Thorl to enter Dominos League semifinal stage. The game was mostly controlled by Grindavik. Thor Thorl managed to win third quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Grindavik dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Thor Thorl's 36. Valur - Breidablik 87-86 Valur held off Breidablik to advance into D1 Finals. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Breidablik won third quarter 21-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Valur forced 19 Breidablik turnovers and outrebounded them 60-42 including a 23-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Keflavik - Tindastoll 83-73 Keflavik outgunned Tindastoll to advance into the semifinal stage. The game without a history. Keflavik led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Tindastoll's 18. They outrebounded Tindastoll 48-32 including a 34-19 advantage in defensive rebounds.
