The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Keflavik (19-3) in Hafnarfjordur on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by fifth ranked Haukar (10-12) 67-58. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 19-9 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Haukar made 14 blocks. American swingman Siarre Evans (178-88, college: E.Tenn.St.) had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Maria Sigurdardottir (180-89) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 blocks during the contest. At the losing side the former international guard Palina Gunnlaugsdottir (168-87) responded with 24 points and 8 rebounds. Haukar maintains fifth position with 10-12 record. Keflavik at the other side still keeps top place with three games lost. Haukar are looking forward to face Njardvik (#6) on the road in the next round. Keflavik will play against Grindavik (#7) and is hoping to win this game.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Reykjavik. 3rd ranked host Valur (13-9) lost to second ranked Snaefell (16-6) 60-46. American forward Kieraah Marlow (178-85) notched a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks to lead the effort and Hildur Sigurdardottir supported her with 8 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Even a double-double of 23 points and 15 rebounds by American guard Jaleesa Butler (185-87, college: Georgetown) did not help to save the game for Valur. Valur's coach Agust Bjorgvinsson rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Snaefell maintains second position with 16-6 record having just three points less than leader Keflavik. Valur at the other side dropped to the fourth place with nine games lost. Snaefell will play against bottom-ranked Fjolnir (#8) in Reykjavik in the next round where they are favorite. Valur's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Reykjavik KR.

Lele Hardy fired a double-double by scoring 30 points, 20 rebounds, 8 assists and 8 steals for the winners. Britney Jones produced a double-double by scoring 52 points (!!!), 18 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion maintains sixth position with 7-15 record. Fjolnir lost third consecutive game. They stay dead last with 19 lost games. Njardvik will meet at home higher ranked Haukar (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Fjolnir will play against the league's second-placed Snaefell in Stykkisholmur and hope to secure a win.

In the last game of round 22 Grindavik lost to KR on the opponent's court 47-59.


Fjolnir - Njardvik 89-94

The game in Reykjavik was also quite interesting. Sixth ranked Njardvik (7-15) played at the court of 8th ranked Fjolnir (3-19). Njardvik managed to secure a 5-point victory 94-89 on Wednesday. Njardvik forced 20 Fjolnir turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American Lele Hardy (182-88, college: Clemson, agency: Merit Sports) fired a double-double by scoring 30 points, 20 rebounds, 8 assists and 8 steals for the winners. Gudlaug Bjort Juliusdottir (172-96) chipped in 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Britney Jones (172-87, college: UAB) produced a double-double by scoring 52 points (!!!), 18 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Heidrun Harpa Rikhardsdottir (173-92) added 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion maintains sixth position with 7-15 record. Fjolnir lost third consecutive game. They stay dead last with 19 lost games. Njardvik will meet at home higher ranked Haukar (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Fjolnir will play against the league's second-placed Snaefell in Stykkisholmur and hope to secure a win.

KR - Grindavik 59-47

Rather expected game in Reykjavik where 7th ranked Grindavik (6-16) was defeated by fourth ranked KR (14-8) 59-47 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 59-47. KR dominated on the defensive end, holding Grindavik to just 6 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Grindavik 51-33 including a 23-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Shannon McCallum (177-87, college: Charlotte) fired a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. The former international power forward Sigrun Amundadottir (181-88, agency: Promotex) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. The former international forward Petrunella Skuladottir (177-85) produced 19 points and center Helga Hallgrimsdottir (180-87) added 9 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. KR have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Keflavik - Snaefell 70-50 Keflavik celebrated Dominos League title. They dethroned Snaefell beating those in four games of the title series. The game was mostly controlled by Keflavik.
