Icelandic U16 National Team has just returned from Sweden. They participated at the Nordic Cup tournament in Solna. Iceland grabbed 2 victories in five games at the Solnahallen. Iceland tipped off their campaign with a 58:48 victory over Estonia. The teams were tied at 28 at the end of the first half. But Iceland limited their opponents to 20 points in the second part of the game and claimed a comfortable victory at the end. Eva Kristjansdottir (180-F-97) posted 19 points and 7 boards for Iceland. Thora Jonsdottir (97) added 16 points in the victory. Darja Dikalenko (163-PG-97) answered with 13 points for Estonia. Siiri Kliimson (199-C-98) had 12 points in defeat. Iceland extended their winning streak with a 61:38 success over Norway. Iceland posted a 30:19 halftime lead and rallied to the victory in the second half. Ingibjorg Sigurdardottir delivered 19 points and 8 rebounds for Iceland. Eva Kristjansdottir had 14 points and 11 boards for the winners. Thale Messel (174-G-97) and Kristin Hannestad (176-SF-97) answered with 7 points apiece for Norway. The first loss came in the third round. Iceland yielded against Finland 46:80. Finland led from start to finish earning a well-deserved win. Sandra Karsten provided 10 points for Finland. Iina Salmenkivi dropped 9 points in the winning case. Kristrun Bjorgvinsdottir responded with 7 points for Iceland. Iceland could not cope with Sweden in the fourth round 43:76. Sweden got to a quick start. They grabbed a massive 50:22 halftime lead and breezed to the victory after the big break. Kristin Seman (171-SF-97) posted 20 points for the winners. Adriana Camber (174-F-97) had 14 points and 10 boards for the home team. Eva Kristjansdottir responded with game-high 26 points for Iceland. Finally Iceland took on Denmark. It was a tough battle. Iceland grabbed an 18:12 lead ten minutes into the game. But Denmark reacted with a 21:7 run in the second period to pull ahead. Iceland stayed aggressive in the second half cutting the deficit but Denmark hung on to escape with a narrow 64:62 win at the end. Enna Pehadzic (176-G/F-97) came up with 22 points and 8 boards for Denmark. Sarah Mortensen (182-F-97) delivered 20 points and impressive 21 boards. Eva Kristjansdottir responded with 15 points and 15 boards for Iceland. Karen Vilhjalmsdottir dropped 12 points and 7 boards in the losing case.
