Ermolinskij
An interesting game for KR (13-3) which played road game in Thorlakshofn against 4th ranked Thor Thorl (9-7). First ranked KR managed to get a 4-point victory 95-91. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Thor Thorl. The guests trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 29-23 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Pavel Ermolinskij (202-87) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international guard Jon Stefansson (192-82) contributed with 21 points and 6 assists for the winners. American guard Tobin Carberry (193-91, college: LIU Post, agency: HMS) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for Thor Thorl. KR have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 13-3 record. Thor Thorl at the other side keeps the fourth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Grindavik. KR are looking forward to face Thor AK (#6) in Akureyri in the next round where they are favorite. Thor Thorl will play on the road against the league's second-placed Stjarnan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Snaefell is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their 16th consecutive match to second ranked Stjarnan (12-4) 101-77. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Hlynur Baeringsson (200-82) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks and Arnthor Gudmundsson who added 25 points during the contest. At the losing side guard Arni Hrafnsson (185-98) responded with 24 points and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Stjarnan maintains second position with 12-4 record behind leader KR. Snaefell at the other side still closes the standings. Stjarnan will play against Thor Thorl (#4) in Thorlakshofn in the next round. Snaefell will play at home against Tindastoll (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Thor AK (8-8) and Haukar (6-10), which took place in Hafnarfjordur. Higher ranked Thor AK lost to eleventh ranked Haukar in a road game 72-79 on Friday. The winners were led by Sherrod Wright who had that evening a double-double by scoring 42 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws). Even 22 points and 8 rebounds by George Beamon did not help to save the game for Thor AK. Haukar moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Skallagrimur. Newly promoted Thor AK keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. They share it with Njardvik. Haukar will meet higher ranked IR (#9) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Thor AK will play against the league's leader KR having rather not much hope for a victory.

Other games in round 16 were not that significant. Njardvik beat Skallagrimur on the road 100-91. Tindastoll won against Keflavik on its own court 86-77. IR unfortunately lost to Grindavik in a road game 79-94.
