Marques
Oliver
American Power forward Marques Oliver (201-PF-91) put on an amazing game in the last round for second-ranked Fjolnir, receiving a Eurobasket.com D1 Player of the Week award for round 22.
The 25-year old player was the main contributor (40 points, nine rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out Valur (#3, 14-4) in overtime 104-101. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Fjolnir maintains the 2nd position in Icelandic D1. They are still close to the very top. Fjolnir would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 16-4 record. In the team's last game Oliver had a remarkable 73.3% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Fjolnir and just after two games he already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Marques Oliver averages just after two games 16.5ppg.

The second best player in last round's games was -year old American Aaron Moss (185-G, agency: Duran International) of league's leader Hottur. Moss had a very good evening with a double-double of 32 points and 20 rebounds. Bad luck as Hottur lost that game 68-76 to slightly lower-ranked Valur (#3, 14-4). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Hottur still maintains its place as the top team in the standings, even despite this loss. His team belongs to top of the standings with 18-2 record and is considered one of the main candidates for the league title. Moss is a newcomer at Hottur, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 24.9ppg (#5). His other stats are also decent: 13.3rpg and 9.1apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Urald King (198-F-90) of Valur (#3). King scored 25 points and grabbed seventeen rebounds (!!!). Despite King's great performance Valur lost 101-104 in overtime to #2 ranked Fjolnir. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Valur needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 14 victories and 4 lost games. King has a great season in Iceland. After 11 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.1ppg (8th best) and rebounds with 10.8rpg (5th best). He also has 2.2bpg and FGP: 59.9%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Chris Woods (195-F-89) of Hamar - 28 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Derek Shouse (188-G-93) of IA - 28 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists
6. Collin Pryor (200-F-90) of Fjolnir - 22 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Erlendur Stefansson (190-G-95) of Hamar - 31 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Mirko Virijevic (201-F-81) of Hottur - 24 points and 8 rebounds
9. Oddur Petursson (190-G-93) of Valur - 21 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Ari Gylfason (186-PG-89) of FSU - 21 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Dominos League Round 4 of Finals. Grindavik catch up with KR in championship series - 2 days ago
Grindavik - KR 79-66 Grindavik rallied past KR at home court to even the title series at 2-2. The game was mostly controlled by Grindavik. KR managed to win third quarter 17-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Dominican guard Lewis Clinch (191-87, college: Georgia Tech) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Dagur Jonsson (185-95, college: St.Francis, NY) who...   [read more]
