Tobin
Carberry
American Tobin Carberry (193-G-91, agency: HMS) had an amazing evening in the last round for Thor Thorl and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 21.
The 25-year old guard had the game-high 38 points adding seven rebounds and five assists for Thor Thorl in his team's victory, helping them to beat Skallagrimur (#11, 7-14) 95-86. Thor Thorl is placed at 5th position in Icelandic Dominos League. Thor Thorl is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 11-10 record. In the team's last game Carberry had a remarkable 62.5% from 2-point range. He turned to be Thor Thorl's top player in his first season with the team. LIU - C.W.Post graduate has very impressive stats this year. Carberry is in league's top in points (4th best: 27.6ppg), rebounds (5th best: 11.1rpg) and averages solid 55.1% FGP. Worth to mention Carberry played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 26-year old American forward Amin Stevens (203-F-90) of Keflavik. Stevens impressed basketball fans with 33 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Of course he led Keflavik to another comfortable win outscoring slightly lower-ranked Thor AK (#8, 10-11) 97-77. Keflavik's 6th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 11-10 record is not bad and everything may still change. Stevens is a newcomer at Keflavik and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 29.5ppg (#1). He also registered 15.1 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was American Flenard Whitfield (200-F-90) of Skallagrimur (#11). Whitfield scored 25 points and grabbed fifteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Whitfield's great performance Skallagrimur lost 86-95 to the higher-ranked Thor Thorl (#5, 11-10). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Skallagrimur not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 14 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Whitfield could try to bring Skallagrimur's a little bit higher in the standings. Whitfield has individually a great season in Iceland. After 21 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 28.4ppg (2nd best) and rebounds with 14.7rpg (2nd best). He also has 1.3bpg and FGP: 54.8%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Olafur Olafsson (194-G-90) of Grindavik - 33 points and 8 rebounds
5. Christian Covile (193-G-93) of Snaefell - 26 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Pavel Ermolinskij (202-G-87) of KR - 15 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists
7. Quincy Hankins-Cole (203-F-90) of IR - 32 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Antonio Hester (198-F-90) of Tindastoll - 29 points and 9 rebounds
9. Myron Dempsey (203-G-91) of Njardvik - 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Hordur Vilhjalmsson (194-G-88) of Keflavik - 26 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Hlinason only started to train basketball less than 4 years ago. 216 cm with great potential to be a great one. American Antonio Hester (198-F-90) put on an amazing game in the last round for Tindastoll and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 2. The 27-year old forward had a double-double of 31 points and thirteen rebounds, while his team edged out Valur (#12, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 73-69. Tindastoll is placed at 7th position in Icelandic Dominos League. Tindastoll is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lowe...   [read more]
