Second-ranked B.Gais Neptune (8-6) gave a tough game to first ranked DCU Saints (14-2) in Cork on Sunday. The visitors from Dublin managed to secure only one-point victory 86-85. However their fans expected easier game. DCU Saints forced 21 B.Gais Neptune turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for guard Keith Anderson (188-G-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Latvian center Martins Provizors (202-87) helped adding 11 points and 10 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American power forward Ronald Thompson (208-81, college: Morehouse) with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 20 rebounds and 5 assists. DCU Saints have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 14-2 record. B.Gais Neptune at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. DCU Saints are looking forward to face Belfast Star (#4) on the road in the next round. B.Gais Neptune's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Cork UCC Demons.

Visiting 11890 Killester was defeated by Moycullen in a tough game in Moycullen 58-64. Moycullen maintains fourth place with 4-12 record. Defending champion 11890 Killester keeps the second position with five games lost. Moycullen will play against league's second-placed B.Gais Neptune in Cork in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. 11890 Killester will play at home against UCD Marian in Dublin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The best player for the winners was Robert Taylor who scored 21 points and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Donnie Stith who recorded 15 points and 8 rebounds. UCD Marian's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. UL Eagles maintains third place with 8-8 record having six points less than leader UCC Demons which they share with defeated UCD Marian. Loser UCD Marian keeps the third position with nine games lost. UL Eagles will meet league's leader UCC Demons in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. UCD Marian will play against the league's second-placed 11890 Killester in Dublin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Belfast Star will play at home against the league's leader DCU Saints in Dublin.


UL Eagles - UCD Marian 75-68

The game between Top Four teams took place in Limerick. Third ranked host UL Eagles (8-8) defeated 3rd placed UCD Marian (6-9) 75-68. They outrebounded UCD Marian 43-26 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. UL Eagles looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Robert Taylor (188-83, college: Rider) who scored 21 points and 7 assists. The former international center Jason Killeen (211-85, college: Augusta St., agency: JEMsports) chipped in 5 points and 20 rebounds. Taylor is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Donnie Stith (201-85, college: Tulane, agency: Gamble Sports Management) who recorded 15 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Kevin Foley (193-83) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Four UCD Marian players scored in double figures. UCD Marian's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. UL Eagles maintains third place with 8-8 record having six points less than leader UCC Demons which they share with defeated UCD Marian. Loser UCD Marian keeps the third position with nine games lost. UL Eagles will meet league's leader UCC Demons in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. UCD Marian will play against the league's second-placed 11890 Killester in Dublin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

UCC Demons players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Belfast Star's players. It was a good game for American forward Shawn Atupem (200-89, college: Mt.St.Mary's) who led his team to a victory with 40 points (!!!) (on 17-of-19 shooting from the field).
