National League Fixtures 2012-13 announced

The 2012-13 National League Basketball fixtures have been announced.

In the Nivea For Men's SuperLeague, newcomers Dublin Inter, previously known as Ballon Basketball Club, will host last season's beaten finalists DCU Saints in the opening game of the season at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght on Friday, September 28th.

Reigning champions UL Eagles face a tricky opening encounter away to Neptune, while Moycullen and Killester take on UCC Demons and UCD Marian respectively.

The format of the League in 2012-13 will include 8 teams. Belfast Star has withdrawn from the League, while Dublin Inter has been granted a one year licence. The League will operate on a 3 round League format, with the League winners being determined by table position at the end of the 21 game season.

A new End of Season competition will be introduced. For 2012-13, this will involve the League and Cup winners and the next best placed two teams in the League at the end of the season. This format will be reviewed for 2013-2014.

In the Nivea Women's SuperLeague, which starts on the weekend of October 6th, champions UL, who went the entire of last season unbeaten, welcome Killester to the UL Arena and beaten finalists Team Montenotte Hotel have a date with Meteors.

DCU Mercy make the trip to Ulster Rockets and WIT Wildcats face Liffey Celtics.
