  follow us on Facebook Twitter

Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Irish who are currently playing abroad.

Colin O'Reilly
Colin O'Reilly
#1. This week's number one is former international forward Colin O'Reilly (200-84, college: Post, currently plays in United Kingdom), who plays in the British BBL. O'Reilly could not help Plymouth Raiders (3-1) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his very good performance Plymouth Raiders was badly defeated 95-78 on the road by the higher-ranked Surrey Heat (#3). O'Reilly recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 10 rebounds. But the season just started, so everything may happen. It's O'Reilly's first year with the team. He has individually a very good season with high stats. O'Reilly averages: 19.8ppg, 9.5rpg, 3.5apg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 69.4%(25-36), 3FGP: 37.5% and FT: 84.6%. He played for the Irish senior national team three years ago.

Donnie McGrath
Donnie McGrath
#2. Second place goes to former international guard Donnie McGrath (193-84, college: Providence, currently plays in Greece), who plays in the Greek A1. McGrath was not able to help PAOK (3-1) in their last game. Despite his good performance PAOK lost 78-89 in Dramas to the lower-ranked (#4) KAOD. McGrath scored 10 points and added 6 assists in 33 minutes. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. McGrath has relatively good stats this year: 11.7ppg, 2.7rpg, 4.0apg, 2FGP: 76.9%, 3FGP: 28.6% in the three games he played so far. He is a naturalized American. McGrath played for the Irish national team in 2008. Strangely he has never played in Ireland.

Conor Grace
Conor Grace
#3. The Irish player who performed third best last week abroad was former international forward Conor Grace (210-82, college: Davidson, currently plays in Sweden). Grace was not able to secure a victory for Eco Orebro (1-6) in their game against Solna Vikings (5-2) in the Swedish Basketligan. Despite his very good performance in Tuesday night's game He recorded 13 points. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. Grace's overall stats this season are: 8.4ppg, 4.1rpg, 1.1apg, 2FGP: 43.9%, 3FGP: 23.8%. He played for the Irish national team three years ago.

Bryan Mullins
Bryan Mullins
#4. Point guard Bryan Mullins (185-87, college: S.Illinois, currently plays in France) couldn't help Chalons-Reims (3-3) in their game against Fos Ouest (2-4) in the French ProB (second division). He did not beat the league record on Friday evening. Mullins scored only 3 points. Chalons-Reims was edged 78-76 in Fos by the lower-ranked Ouest (#14). Mullins' overall stats this season are: 5.5ppg, 2.5rpg and 3.7apg. He is a naturalized American. Mullins used to play for the Irish national team back in 2009. Apparently he has never played in Ireland.

The list of other players, who all have Irish passport but never been selected to any of Irish national teams:

#1. Levon Kendall (209-F-84, college: Pittsburgh, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the 14th-ranked Cajasol (1-4) crushing them 82-61 in the Spanish ACB in Saturday night's game. He scored 10 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 20 minutes. Blusens Monbus Obradoiro CAB (4-1) is placed sixth in the ACB. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Kendall is currently fifth on the league's list of top scorers and also on the list of best blockers (fifth place). He has individually a very good year with high stats. Kendall averages: 16.2ppg, 6.4rpg, 2.0apg and 1.4bpg in the five games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Canadian and Irish.

#2. Will Hanley (200-G/F-90, agency: Duran International, college: Bowdoin, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) could not help Oviedo CB (1-1) to beat Palma (2-1). Hanley scored 8 points in 17 minutes. Oviedo CB was edged 71-68 on the road by the higher-ranked (#6) Palma. This year Hanley has relatively solid stats: 11.5ppg, 6.5rpg and 1.5spg in the two games. He is a naturalized American. Apparently Hanley has never played in Ireland.

#3. Experienced Tony McCrory (199-G/F-77, college: Simon Fraser, currently plays in Switzerland) was not able to help Starwings (0-4) in their game against Fribourg (4-0) in the Swiss LNA. McCrory cannot count it as his best performance. He recorded only 2 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists in 29 minutes. The bottom-ranked Starwings was crushed 85-62 at home by the leading Fribourg. So far Starwings lost all four games in the Regular Season. McCrory is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fifth year in Starwings' roster. This season McCrory has relatively solid stats: 10.8ppg, 2.8rpg and 2.8apg in the four games. He is another player who holds two passports: Canadian and Irish.

#4. Yaniv Strauss (190-F-92, currently plays in Israel) was not able to secure a victory for Hapoel Kazrin (2-1) in their game against Elitzur Yavne (3-0) in the Israeli National League (second division). Strauss cannot count Tuesday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points. Hapoel Kazrin was badly defeated 94-75 in Yavne by the leading Elitzur. This season Strauss averages just 2.0ppg.

#5. Orel Lev (195-SG-93, currently plays in Israel) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Hapoel Kfar Saba (0-3) in their game against Maccabi K/G (1-2) in the Israeli National League (second division). He cannot count Tuesday's game as one of the best ones. Lev scored only 3 points in 9 minutes on the court. It was his first game for Hapoel Kfar Saba this season. Hapoel Kfar Saba lost 66-79 in Kiryat Gat to the higher-ranked (#10) Maccabi K/G. So far Hapoel Kfar Saba lost all three games in the Regular Season.
