The most exciting game of round 5 in the Superleague took place in Waterford. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 7th ranked Waterford Wildcats (1-4) to eighth ranked Meteors (2-4) 66-63 in the game for the sixth place. The best player for the winners was forward Rebecca Nagle (173-F-92) who scored 25 points. Jade Daly (-91) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. The former international guard Cathy Kavanagh (187-90) produced 23 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Meteors moved-up to sixth place. Waterford Wildcats lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Ulster Rockets. Meteors' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Dublin DCU Mercy.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Dublin: DCU Mercy (#1) and 11890 Killester (#4). DCU Mercy (5-0) crushed visiting 11890 Killester (2-3) by 48 points 72-24. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of 11890 Killester. American-British forward Meagan Hoffman (183-82, college: Adams St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. Lindsay Peat contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. DCU Mercy's coach felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Michelle Clarke (178-94) answered with 6 points for 11890 Killester. Undefeated DCU Mercy have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-0 record, which they share with UL Aughinish. 11890 Killester at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. DCU Mercy's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Dublin to the arena Meteors.

In the last two games of round 5 Ulster Rockets lost to undefeated UL Aughinish in Limerick 33-76. TM Hotel Cork smashed Ulster Rockets at home 73-43.

There was no surprise in Limerick where 6th ranked Ulster Rockets (1-4) were crushed by leader UL Aughinish (5-0) 76-33. UL Aughinish dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Ulster Rockets' 20. They outrebounded Ulster Rockets 47-15 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Loretta Maher orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. Aoife McDermott (185-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Ciara O'Neill answered with 11 points and Niamh Toner added 7 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Ulster Rockets. UL Aughinish have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with DCU Mercy. Ulster Rockets at the other side dropped to the seventh place with four games lost. They share the position with Waterford W.. UL Aughinish will play against Singleton (#4) in Cork in the next round. Ulster Rockets will play at home against Waterford Wildcats and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The former international forward Grainne Dwyer (-84) contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. TM Hotel Cork's coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Fionnuala Toner (175, college: MacMurray) answered with 14 points and 5 rebounds and Ciara O'Neill added 10 points in the effort for Ulster Rockets.
