What a coincidence that all visitors won their games.

Superleague round 6 most important game was a victory of Waterford Wildcats over 7th ranked Ulster Rockets 63-57 on Saturday night. They outrebounded Ulster Rockets 35-16 including a 28-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for the former international guard Cathy Kavanagh (187-G-90) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Jenny Coady (-82) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Fionnuala Toner (175, college: MacMurray) replied with 17 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for Ulster Rockets. Waterford Wildcats (2-4) moved-up to sixth place. Ulster Rockets at the other side dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. Waterford Wildcats are looking forward to face higher ranked 11890 Killester (#4) in Dublin in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ulster Rockets will have a break next round.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Dublin: DCU Mercy (#1) and Meteors (#6). Meteors were defeated at home 58-66 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. American-British forward Meagan Hoffman (183-82, college: Adams St.) had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Sarah Woods chipped in 26 points during the contest. DCU Mercy's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was guard Karen Meany (170-93) with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Undefeated DCU Mercy (6-0) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 6 victories in a row, which they share with UL Aughinish. Meteors at the other side dropped to the seventh place with five games lost. DCU Mercy will play against Singleton (#5) in Cork in the next round. Meteors will play at home against TM Hotel Cork and hope to get back on the winning track.

Undefeated UL Aughinish have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with DCU Mercy. Newly promoted Singleton keeps the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Killester. UL Aughinish will meet bottom-ranked Liffey Celtics (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Singleton will play against the league's leader DCU Mercy (#1) in Dublin and hope to secure a win.
Bottom-ranked Liffey Celtics is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fourth consecutive match to third ranked TM Hotel Cork (4-1) 78-64. TM Hotel Cork maintains third position with 4-1 record having just three points less than leader DCU Mercy. Liffey Celtics at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. TM Hotel Cork's next round opponent will be Meteors (#7) in Dublin. Liffey Celtics will play at home against the league's second-placed UL Aughinish in Limerick and hope to get finally their first victory.

An interesting game for UL Aughinish (6-0) which played road game in Cork against 4th ranked Singleton (2-3). Top-ranked UL Aughinish managed to get a 7-point victory 65-58. UL Aughinish dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Singleton's 34. The former international center Michelle Fahy (183-82) notched 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and the former international guard Rachel Clancy (175-88, college: Cal Poly - SLO) supported her with 18 points. Four UL Aughinish players scored in double figures. Even 17 points and 7 rebounds by Megan O'Leary did not help to save the game for Singleton. Edel Thornton added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. UL Aughinish have an impressive six-game winning streak. Aine Mcdonnell put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Killester and that's her to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 8. The had the game-high 9 points adding nine rebounds and fifteen assists for Killester in her team's victory, helping them to outclass NUIG Mystics (#7, 2-5) with 26-point margin 82-56. Coincidentally all hosts won their games. The most exciting game of round 8 in the Super League took place in Dublin.
