Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Irish who are currently playing abroad.

Donnie McGrath
Donnie McGrath
#1. This week's number one is former international guard Donnie McGrath (193-84, college: Providence, currently plays in Greece), who plays in the Greek A1. He could not help PAOK (9-4) in their last game. Despite McGrath's good performance PAOK lost 61-71 on the road to the second-ranked Panathinaikos. He recorded 10 points and added 5 assists in 37 minutes on the court. McGrath has relatively good stats this year: 14.4ppg, 2.5rpg, 3.5apg, 2FGP: 60.3%(38-63), 3FGP: 37.7% and FT: 80.5% in the 13 games he played so far. He is a naturalized American. McGrath played for the Irish senior national team five years ago. Strangely he has never played in Ireland.

Colin O'Reilly
Colin O'Reilly
#2. Second place goes to former international forward Colin O'Reilly (200-84, college: Post, currently plays in United Kingdom). O'Reilly led Plymouth Raiders to a victory against the ninth-ranked Manchester Giants (7-13) 119-115 in the British BBL last Saturday. He recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 11 rebounds. O'Reilly also added 4 assists. UCP Marjon Plymouth Raiders (12-5) is placed fourth in the BBL. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. It's O'Reilly's first season with the team. This year he has relatively solid stats: 14.5ppg, 7.1rpg, 3.1apg, 2FGP: 58.0%(69-119), 3FGP: 37.0% and FT: 77.8%. O'Reilly played for the Irish national team in 2009.

Bryan Mullins
Bryan Mullins
#3. The Irish player who performed third best last week abroad was former international point guard Bryan Mullins (185-87, college: S.Illinois, currently plays in France). He managed to help Chalons-Reims in a victory against the closely-ranked Olympique Antibes (13-6) 82-75 in the French ProB (second division) in Friday night's game. Mullins recorded only 2 points and added 3 assists in 33 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Chalons-Reims (14-5) is placed third in the ProB. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. This year Mullins' overall stats are: 7.7ppg, 2.6rpg, 4.3apg, 1.8spg, 2FGP: 48.1%, 3FGP: 34.7% and FT: 66.7% in the 19 games. He is a naturalized American. Mullins played for the Irish national team four years ago. Apparently he has never played in Ireland.

Sean McCarthy
Sean McCarthy
#4. Center Sean McCarthy (208-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) was not able to help the NJIT (2-0) in their game against the University of New Orleans (0-0) in the NCAA. He scored only 4 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in 25 minutes. The NJIT was edged in a triple overtime (!!!) 96-94 in New Orleans, LA by the University of New Orleans. This year McCarthy averages just 1.4ppg in the eight games. He used to play for the Irish U16 national team back in 2009.

The list of other players, who all have Irish passport but never been selected to any of Irish national teams:

#1. Levon Kendall (209-F-84, college: Pittsburgh, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish ACB could not help Blusens Monbus (9-9) to beat Assignia Manresa (3-15). He scored only 4 points, had 10 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 25 minutes. Blusens Monbus lost 69-83 on the road to the one of league's weakest teams (#17) Assignia Manresa. Kendall has reliable stats this year: 12.9ppg, 5.8rpg, 1.8apg and 1.2spg in the 18 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Canadian and Irish.

#2. Will Hanley (200-G/F-90, agency: Duran International, college: Bowdoin, currently plays in Spain) led Oviedo CB to a victory over one of league's weakest teams Palma (4-9) 83-74 in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) in Saturday night's game. Hanley was MVP of the game. He scored 15 points and grabbed 9 rebounds; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Hanley's third season in pro basketball. Oviedo Club Baloncesto (9-3) is placed second in the LEB Silver. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. Hanley is currently first on the league's list of top scorers and also on the list of best rebounders (first place). He has individually a very good season with high stats. Hanley averages: 18.6ppg, 11.2rpg and 1.3spg. He is a naturalized American. Apparently Hanley has never played in Ireland.

#3. Andrew James Ogilvy (211-C-88, college: Vanderbilt, currently plays in Euroleague) was not able to help Brose Baskets Bamberg (0-4) in their game against Anadolu Efes (3-1) in the Euroleague. He did not have that impressive stats last Thursday. Ogilvy recorded only 2 points in 7 minutes on the court. The seventh-placed Brose Baskets Bamberg was badly defeated 94-76 in Istanbul by the higher-ranked (#3) Anadolu Efes in the group E of Euroleague. So far Brose Baskets Bamberg lost all four games in the Top 16. This year Ogilvy's overall stats are: 4.7ppg and 2.2rpg in the six games. He is another player who holds two passports: Australian and Irish.

#4. Experienced Tony McCrory (199-G/F-77, college: Simon Fraser, currently plays in Switzerland), who plays in the Swiss LNA was not able to secure a victory for Starwings (3-12) in their last game on Saturday. Despite McCrory's very good performance the bottom-ranked Starwings was crushed 104-52 in Geneve by the second-ranked Lions. He was the top scorer with 16 points. McCrory also added 5 rebounds. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. McCrory is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fifth year in Starwings' roster. He has reliable stats this season: 12.8ppg, 3.3rpg and 2.7apg. McCrory has both Canadian and Irish nationalities.

#5. Ben Altit (208-PF-93, agency: Avi Zilberman, college: Bryant, currently plays in Israel) couldn't help Bnei Hasharon (6-8) in their game against Maccabi Ashdod (14-0) in the Israeli Winner League. Altit cannot count Monday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points. Bnei Hasharon was defeated 86-76 at home by the leading Maccabi Ashdod. This season Altit averages: 1.4ppg.

Maree crowned Division One champions - 3 days ago
MAREE were today crowned Basketball Ireland Men's Division One Regular Season champions for the second year in a row with a win over Ulster University Elks in Oranmore. In an extremely close and competitive game, it took Maree until the fourth quarter to put some breathing space between the two sides, with momentum swinging from end to end throughout the game. Good scoring from Kenneth Hansberry and Eoin Rockall (182-PG-98) sealed the deal in the end for the Galway side, and Maree were cr...   [read more]

Naturalized American Forward Jermaine Turner (195-F-74) put on an amazing game in the last round for Killester, receiving a Usbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 22. The 42-year old player had a double-double of 27 points and 15 rebounds, while his team beat Eanna (#11, 5-16) 89-75. Killester maintains the 5th position in Irish Super League.
