The most exciting game of round 9 in the Super League took place in Cork. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 4th placed UCC Demons (6-3) to sixth ranked Killester (5-3) 80-79 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of UCC Demons. The best player for the winners was naturalized American forward Jermaine Turner (195-74, college: Dowling) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Alan Casey (191-89) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Adrian O'Sullivan (180-93) who recorded 21 points and 6 assists. Killester maintains sixth place with 5-3 record. Defending champion UCC Demons keep the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Tralee. Killester's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Dublin to the arena Eanna.
Undefeated leader Templeogue delivered the ninth consecutive victory. This time they beat 8th ranked Moycullen (2-6) 82-71 in Dublin. It was a good game for the former international center Jason Killeen (211-85, college: Augusta) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 18 rebounds and 6 blocks. Michael Bonaparte contributed with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Templeogue's coach Mark Keenan allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Paul Freeman (201-83) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds for Moycullen. Undefeated Templeogue (9-0) have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 9 victories in a row. Moycullen lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. They share it with Belfast Star. Templeogue will play against Tralee (#5) on the road in the next round. Moycullen will play against UL Eagles (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked KUBS (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 73-61 loss to ninth ranked DCU Saints (3-6) in Greendale on Saturday evening. Martins Provizors stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 18 rebounds for the winners. The best for the losing side was Kevin Foley with 28 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. DCU Saints moved-up to seventh place. KUBS lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with eight games lost. DCU Saints will meet at home higher ranked UCC Demons (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. KUBS will play against Belfast Star (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

In the last two games of round 9 Eanna was defeated by UCD Marian in Dublin 87-69. Swords Thunder beat Tralee at home 87-80.

UCC Demons - Killester 79-80

There was no surprise in Dublin where 10th ranked Eanna (3-7) was defeated by third ranked UCD Marian (8-2) 87-69 on Thursday. UCD Marian forced 20 Eanna turnovers and had a 24-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Eanna's players. The best player for the winners was international point guard Conor Meany (185-86) who scored 22 points and 6 assists. International guard Barry Drumm (186-87) chipped in 7 points, 5 rebounds, 13 assists and 8 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was Aidan Dunne who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and Australian center Nathaniel Musters (208-93, college: Lafayette) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. UCD Marian maintains third place with 8-2 record behind leader Templeogue. Eanna lost their third game in a row. No shocking result in a game in Dublin where third ranked Swords Thunder (8-1) defeated 5th ranked Tralee (6-3) 87-80 on Sunday. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Swords Thunder. They moved-up to second place. Newly promoted Tralee dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Swords Thunder will face UCD Marian (#3) in Dublin in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Tralee will play at home against the league's leader Templeogue and hope to win that game.
