Pete Strickland to host three Coaching Clinics
Jan 18,2017
New Irish Senior Men's Head Coach, Pete Strickland, is arriving in Dublin this weekend and will be hosting a number of coaching clinics around the country during his stay.
Strickland, who was appointed to the role back in November, will be in Ireland for the Men's Super Series weekend in the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght this coming Saturday and Sunday (January 21st and 22nd) and also for the Hula Hoops National Cup finals next weekend (January 27-29th).
While here, he will be hosting three major coaching clinics in Dublin, Galway and Cork, details of which were announced this week.

Cork
On Monday, January 23rd, Strickland will do a session with any senior schools players who have been involved in an International Programme in Neptune Stadium from 1pm to 4pm. Girls are invited to attend from 1pm to 2.30pm with the boys' session taking place from 2.30pm to 4pm.
On Tuesday, January 24th, Strickland will run a Coaching Clinic and Q&A with Cork coaches with John McHale as MC. The clinic will be held in the Ambassador Hotel with sign in at 7.30pm and the event running from 8pm - 10pm with a 5 entry fee.

Galway
On Wednesday, January 25th, Strickland will visit Co. Galway and will visit the Galway Primary Schools Jamboree from 10am to 1.30pm where he will present the children with certificates on the day.
On Thursday, January 26th, clubs are being invited to send in four players for a practice session with Strickland, which will be followed by a Q&A session with NUIG Development officers (all sports) and local Basketball coaches - this will run from 6pm to 8pm in NUIG Kingfisher Gym with an entry fee of 5.

Dublin
The Dublin coaching clinic with Pete Strickland will take place in Tallaght Community School on Saturday, January 28th from 10am to 1pm. An underage basketball team will be in attendance on the day to demonstrate the different drills and tactics that Pete will be outlining.
There will be an entry fee of 5.

PREVIEW: We look ahead to this weekend's games

All roads lead to the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght for the Men's Super League this weekend as six of the seven games of the weekend tip in as part of the Men's Super Series weekend.
Both Radisson Blu UL Eagles and KUBS play double headers this weekend, with the two sides facing each other on Friday night, before going on to take part in the Super Series over the weekend. This is a crucial game for both of these sides as they bid to secure more vital points on the table, with Eagles currently sitting bottom of the table with one win from 13 games, while KUBS are just above them in eleventh position with one win from 12 games.
Moving on to Saturday, and the feast of Men's Super League basketball gets underway at 2pm on Saturday when Pyrobel Killester go head-to-head with Belfast Star with the former aiming to keep their recent winning streak intact on the day.
The 4pm game on Saturday sets up a much-anticipated clash between SSE Airtricity Moycullen and Garvey's Tralee Warriors. Moycullen will be hoping to get back to winning ways after their Cup semi-final loss to Griffith Swords Thunder and a League defeat to Killester. Tralee meanwhile currently sit fourth on the table following wins over KUBS, Belfast Star and UCC Demons.

The final game on Saturday meanwhile sees DCU Saints and Commercial.ie Eanna go head-to-head at 6pm. Eanna enjoyed a big win over the Saints last time round and will be hoping to take the points this weekend too.
Sunday sees six more teams take to the court, with Radisson Blu UL Eagles (who also play KUBS on Friday evening) and Griffith Swords Thunder getting the action underway at 2pm, with KUBS and UCC Demons next up at 4pm. The latter was a nail-biter in the Arena in October, with KUBS just missing out by three points and they will be hoping they've enough firepower to pip Demons this time, while the final game of the Super Series sees table toppers and unbeaten side Templeogue take on third place UCD Marian.
