Martins
Provizors
Latvian Center Martins Provizors (202-C-87) had an amazing evening in the last round for DCU Saints, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 16.
The 29-year old player had a double-double of 29 points and 15 rebounds, while his team DCU Saints is placed at 7th position in Irish Super League. DCU Saints is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. But it was their 10th lost game this season out of 16 games. In the team's last game Provizors had a remarkable 73.3% from 2-point range. It's his second year at DCU Saints and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Martins Provizors has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (6th best: 20.6ppg) and averages impressive 1.4bpg and 69.8% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 25-year old American Mike Garrow (193-G-91) of UCD Marian. Garrow had a very good evening with a double-double of 11 points and 18 rebounds. Of course he led UCD Marian to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked KUBS (#11, 2-13) 91-67. UCD Marian's 3rd position in the standings has not changed. His team lost just three games this season, while they won 13 matches. Garrow is a newcomer at UCD Marian, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was former international center Jason Killeen (211-C-85) of league's top team Templeogue. Killeen scored 24 points and grabbed ten rebounds. He was a key player of Templeogue, leading his team to a 98-69 easy win against the lower-ranked UCC Demons (#6, 8-8). Many experts and fans count Templeogue as a contender for championship title. Another victory and another confirmation that they may be right. Just look at their record: 14 victories and only one lost game. They are currently at the very top of the standings. Killeen has a great season in Ireland. After 15 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.9ppg (9th best) and rebounds with 12.0rpg (5th best). He also has 2.6bpg and FGP: 55.6%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Dustan Moreira (202-F-89) of UCD Marian - 15 points and 14 rebounds
5. Neil Lynch (180-G-93) of Eanna - 27 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Nathaniel Musters (208-C-93) of Eanna - 19 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists
7. Trae Pemberton (193-G-92) of Tralee - 33 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Kieran Donaghy (198-G/F-83) of Tralee - 13 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists
9. Lorcan Murphy (182-PG-94) of Templeogue - 21 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Jacob Lawson (203-F-92) of UCC Demons - 18 points and 13 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Super League Round 5: Killester beats Belfast Star by two after a very close game - 1 day ago
There were just five rounds played in Regular Season of Super League and we can clearly see which teams will fight for top positions and which will try to avoid bottom places. The most exciting game of round 5 in the Super League took place in Belfast. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 5th ranked Belfast Star (3-2) to eighth ranked Killester (3-2) 75-73 in the game for the fourth place. Luis Garcia-hoyos orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 1...   [read more]

Went to cover 1st live game this season with EuroBasket where incidentally the Ladies at the club as Ladies will do were doing the so often mundane though no less important jobs impressed upon me the realization that a mention here would not go unoticed. Fr Matthew's Criost Ri Gym and the opponent's were Titans (where incidentally I interviewed for head coach job at Titans a few years ago .....some ridiculous questions asked then (And what type of offences would you run ? ...I'm like have...   [read more]
