Lehmon
Colbert
American Forward Lehmon Colbert (198-F-88) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for UCC Demons, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 3.
The 29-year old player was the main contributor (35 points, eight rebounds and three assists) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out Swords Thunder (2-1) 96-95. UCC Demons is placed at 3rd position in Irish Super League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. UCC Demons will need more victories to improve their 2-1 record. In the team's last game Colbert had a remarkable 63.2% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at UCC Demons, through which he has constantly improved. Former Jacksonville University star has very solid stats this year. Colbert is league's best scorer averaging so far 35.0ppg. Colbert is in league's top in and averages impressive 63.2% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 29-year old American Dee Proby (208-C-88) of DCU Saints. Proby had a very good evening with a double-double of 26 points and 23 rebounds. Bad luck as DCU Saints lost that game 65-85 to Belfast Star (3-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Proby is a newcomer at DCU Saints, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 30.7ppg (#2). His other stats are also decent: 19.3rpg and 3.3apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was international guard Lorcan Murphy (182-PG-94) of Templeogue (#9). Murphy got into 30-points club by scoring 37 points in the last round. Despite Murphy's great performance Templeogue lost 86-92 to Eanna (#7, 1-1). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Templeogue not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 2 games, recording just one victory. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Murphy could try to bring Templeogue's a little bit higher in the standings. Murphy has a very solid season. In 2 games in Ireland he scored 14.0ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Jason Killeen (211-C-85) of Templeogue - 21 points, 20 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Colin O'Reilly (200-F-84) of UCC Demons - 27 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Eoin Rockall (185-PG-98) of Maree - 24 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists
7. Brian Andrews) of KUBS - 28 points and 7 rebounds
8. Ciaran Roe (170-PG-93) of Killester - 24 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists
9. Brandon McGuire (193-F) of Moycullen - 23 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Tamron Manning (193-PG-93) of Eanna - 20 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Super League Round 5: Killester beats Belfast Star by two after a very close game - 1 day ago
There were just five rounds played in Regular Season of Super League and we can clearly see which teams will fight for top positions and which will try to avoid bottom places. The most exciting game of round 5 in the Super League took place in Belfast. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 5th ranked Belfast Star (3-2) to eighth ranked Killester (3-2) 75-73 in the game for the fourth place. Luis Garcia-hoyos orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 1...   [read more]

Went to cover 1st live game this season with EuroBasket where incidentally the Ladies at the club as Ladies will do were doing the so often mundane though no less important jobs impressed upon me the realization that a mention here would not go unoticed. Fr Matthew's Criost Ri Gym and the opponent's were Titans (where incidentally I interviewed for head coach job at Titans a few years ago .....some ridiculous questions asked then (And what type of offences would you run ? ...I'm like have...   [read more]
