What has been reported several times as rumor in the past is starting to gain steam once again as several Israeli and Serbian media have reported that Stephane Lasme (203-F-82, college: Massachusetts) will move to Maccabi Tel-Aviv. According to various newspapers, Lasme will put a pen to a two-year contract with the Israeli Champion and he will be third reinforcement for Maccabi. Previously, Alan Anderson (198-G/F-82, college: Michigan St.) and David Bluthenthal (202-F-80, college: USC) have signed with Maccabi and Lasme is expected to fill in the power forward position. Lasme had a really good season with Partizan Belgrade which brought him from Miami Heat as free agent. He was seen as replacement for Nikola Pekovic who left for Panathanaikos and Lasme has filled the gap nicely. He quickly became fans' favorite and his good showings in Eruoleague were the reason that Partizan has made it to Top 8 second straight year. Still it was widely believed that even though they wanted to retain him, Belgrade outfit could not meet Lasme's financial demands. Whether there is any real substance to this and will Lasme wear Maccabi uniform next season remains to be seen in the coming days. Originally Born in Gabon, Stephane Lasme moved to United States where he played for University of Massachusetts. In 2007 he was drafted by Golden State Warriors as 46th pick. In November 2007, Warriors cut him so he signed with NBDL Team Los Angeles D-Fenders. In March 2008, Miami Heat signed Lasme and he played 16 games for them averaging 5.2 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. Last season Lasme signed with Partizan Belgrade and exploded onto European scene. He helped Partizan win the national Cup and title, Adriatic League title and also Top 8 in the Euroleague. In 18 Euroleague games Lasme posted averages of 11.1 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game.
Nothing is officially confirmed, meaning that so far this is just a rumor.
