Craig Brackins Leaves Ashdod, Maccabi Hosts Jerusalem - Nov 19, 2011

Craig
Brackins
Maccabi Ashdod, who signed the Philadelphia 76ers forward Craig Brackins on an out deal, during the lockout decided not to renew contract terms with the Iowa St. grad, mostly because of the fact that Josh Duncan (played for Ashdod last season and is under contract with the team), fully recovered from his injury and the fact that the Israeli league allows only four foreigners to suit up each game, thus, Brackins won't continue to hoop in the holy-land.

In Ashdod's press release notice, the team expressed its gratitude to the player both on and off the court. 'We thank Craig Brackins for coming and helping our club while Duncan was injured. The contract has expired and Josh is healthy to return. We really enjoyed having Craig in Israel as part of our club both as a person and a Player.'

Brackins managed to play in four Israeli league games, leaving with averages of 13.8ppg, 5.3rpg and 2apg in 32.8 minutes of play. Brackins is also the fourth American NBAer who signed and out deal in Israel, but actually leaves the country before the lockout is over. Trevor Booker, J.J. Hickson and Avery Bradley beat him to it.

Maccabi Tel-Aviv vs. Hapoel Jerusalem

Maccabi Tel-Aviv will host Jerusalem tomorrow (Sunday, 21:00 local time), as the yellow-and-blue army play its third game in four nights. The Israeli 'Super-Classis' is one of the most epic and intense games every season, where teams play for much more than simply a 'W'.

The last time Jerusalem beat Maccabi in a league game was in 2008, but since then, Maccabi holds the upper hand with an average point differential of 25.5 per game, as Tel-Aviv blew out Hapoel six consecutive times since. The two teams met earlier this year in a pre-season tourney, as Maccabi clinched a 102:82 road victory while the hosts saw Avery Bradley sitting on the bench. Jordan Farmar, Theo Papaloukas and Shawn James will rest, as head coach David Blatt announced he'll play with Sofoklis Schortsanitis, Richard Hendrix, Devin Smith and Keith Langford.

On the other end, Luke Jackson who scored 12 points in a losing effort the last time both teams played, and is coming off an Israeli league MVP week, will sit-out and watch his teammates from the sideline. Hapoel's head coach Oded Katash listed Jarvis Varnado, John Thomas, Brian Randle and D.J. Strawberry, who will try and repeat his 28 points stellar performance from pre-season.

Winner League Round 28: Hapoel Holon is defeated by Hapoel Jerusalem - 9 hours ago
The games are now more important than at the beginning of the Regular Season. We may still expect few shocking results in upcoming 5 rounds. The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Hapoel Holon (18-10) at the home court on Thursday night. Hosts were edged by fifth ranked Hapoel Jerusalem (15-13) 73-71. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-15. But Hapoel Holon won second period 18-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory th...   [read more]
