This is still too early stage of the Regular Season in National League and we should expect many changes in upcoming rounds.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Hapoel Kazrin (2-1) on the court of leader Elitzur Yavne on Tuesday night. Visitors were rolled over by Elitzur Yavne 94-75. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hapoel Kazrin. It was a key game for the top position in the league as both teams had the same 2-0 record before this meeting. The game was mostly controlled by Elitzur Yavne. Hapoel Kazrin managed to win fourth quarter 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Hapoel Kazrin 40-27 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for swingman Elad Hofman (192-85) who led his team to a victory with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Noam Matalon (197-87, agency: Avi Zilberman) contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American forward Gary Johnson (198-88, college: Texas) answered with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds for Hapoel Kazrin. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Elitzur Yavne have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 3-0 record, which they share with Hod Hasharon and Ironi K-A. Newly promoted Hapoel Kazrin dropped to the fourth position with one game lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Elitzur Yavne is looking forward to face Elitzur Ramla (#5) on the road in the next round. Hapoel Kazrin will play against Hapoel Kfar Saba and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
Another interesting game for Ironi Nes-Ziona (2-1) which played on the court of 6th ranked Hapoel Afula (1-2). Eighth ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona won 71-63. It was a great evening for Tal Karpels (195-90) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 4 assists. Gil Amitay helped adding 15 points. The best for the losing side was American guard Anthony Fisher (191-86, agency: Pro One Sports) with 17 points and 6 assists. Ironi Nes-Ziona moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Hapoel Afula at the other side dropped to the ninth position with two games lost. They share it with Maccabi K/G. Ironi Nes-Ziona will play against bottom-ranked Maccabi Kiryat Bialik (#14) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hapoel Afula will play against the league's second-placed Hod Hasharon (#2) to get more than just one victory in their record.
A very close game took place in Ramat Gan between Ironi Ramat Gan and Ironi Nahariya. Seventh ranked Ironi Ramat Gan (2-1) got a very close home victory over 5th ranked Ironi Nahariya (2-1). Ironi Ramat Gan managed to escape with a 2-point win 82-80 in the game for the fourth place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ironi Nahariya. It was an exceptional evening for Itay Grinboim who led the winners and scored 21 points and 4 assists. Ramon Clemente came up with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 14 rebounds for Ironi Nahariya in the defeat. Ironi Ramat Gan moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Ironi Nahariya. Ironi Ramat Gan will meet Maccabi K/G (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ironi Nahariya will play against Beer Yaakov (#13) and hope to secure a win.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Hapoel Kfar Saba (0-3) and Maccabi K/G (1-2), which took place in Kiryat Gat. Bottom-ranked Hapoel Kfar Saba lost to fourteenth ranked Maccabi K/G in a road game 66-79. The best player for the winners was Gary Gandel who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Hapoel Kfar Saba's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Maccabi K/G left bottom position moving up to ninth place, which they share with Hapoel Afula. It was Hapoel Kfar Saba's third loss in a row. They still closes the standings with three games lost. Maccabi K/G's next round opponent will be higher ranked Ironi Ramat Gan (#4) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hapoel Kfar Saba will play against Hapoel Kazrin (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 3: Ironi K-A beat Maccabi K/B on the road 72-64. Winless Kiryat Tivon lost to Elitzur Ramla on its own court 83-87. Hod Hasharon managed to outperform Macc.B.Yaakov in a road game 87-81.

Maccabi K/B - Ironi K-A 64-72

No shocking result in a game when leader Ironi Kiryat Ata (3-0) beat on the road bottom-ranked Maccabi Kiryat Bialik (0-3) 72-64. Maccabi Kiryat Bialik was ahead by 6 points after three quarters before a 24-10 charge of Ironi Kiryat Ata, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 21 Maccabi Kiryat Bialik turnovers. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Chris Watson (200-75, college: Niagara) who scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Power forward Kobi Izik (204-83, agency: Avi Zilberman) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. Four Ironi Kiryat Ata players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Dallis Joyner (200-90, college: Stony Brook) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds and guard Tal Parselani (195-87) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Ironi Kiryat Ata have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Hod Hasharon and Elitzur Yavne. Maccabi Kiryat Bialik at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. Ironi Kiryat Ata's next round opponent will be Kiryat Tivon (#12) in Kiryat Tivon which should be an easy win for them. Maccabi Kiryat Bialik will play on the road against Ironi Nes-Ziona in Nes Ziyona and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Kiryat Tivon - Elitzur Ramla 83-87

Rather expected game when bottom-ranked Kiryat Tivon (0-3) lost at home to ninth ranked Elitzur Ramla (2-1) 87-83. The guests were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 26-19 Kiryat Tivon's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 87-83 at the end of the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Kiryat Tivon helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Tasheed Carr (193-85, college: St.Joseph's) who scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). His fellow American import swingman Akeem Wright (200-84, college: Kansas St.) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Wright is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Elitzur Ramla's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game.
