There was a change at the Winner League leadership position after last games. Round 6 most important game was a defeat of league's leader GreenTops Netanya (5-1). They were defeated by fourth ranked Maccabi Haifa (4-2) 94-86 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of GreenTops Netanya. Maccabi Haifa forced 19 GreenTops Netanya turnovers and outrebounded them 40-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American Donta Smith (201-83, college: SE Illinois JC) scored 26 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American-Mexican point guard Paul Stoll (180-85) chipped in 17 points, 7 assists and 4 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Ramel Bradley (188-85) with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Maccabi Haifa moved-up to third place, which they share with Hapoel Eilat and Hapoel T-A. GreenTops Netanya at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Maccabi T-A who have the same record. GreenTops Netanya will play next round against Galil Gilboa trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Maccabi Haifa will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Maccabi Ashdod on the road.

Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Maccabi T-A have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion (5-1) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Netanya. Newly promoted Hapoel Eilat dropped to the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Maccabi Haifa and Hapoel T-A. Maccabi T-A will play against Hapoel Holon (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hapoel Eilat will play against Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 6 Hapoel J-M won against Hapoel Holon on the opponent's court 76-68.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 18 points and 11 rebounds by Deron Washington of Netanya.


Galil Gilboa - Hapoel T-A 62-72

Bottom-ranked Galil Gilboa (0-6) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their sixth consecutive match to fifth ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (4-2) 72-62 on Monday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Hapoel Tel-Aviv. Galil Gilboa managed to win third quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Hapoel Tel-Aviv won last quarter 18-9. They also forced 19 Galil Gilboa turnovers. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was point guard Demontez Stitt (186-89, college: Clemson) who scored 21 points and 4 assists. Curtis Kelly (205-88, college: Kansas St.) chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Kenny Hayes (188-87, college: Miami, OH, agency: Priority Sports) who recorded 14 points and forward Mitchell Watt (208-89, college: Buffalo) added 6 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Hapoel Tel-Aviv moved-up to third place, which they share with Maccabi Haifa and Hapoel Eilat. Loser Galil Gilboa still closes the standings with six games lost. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will meet at home Hapoel Eilat (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Hapoel Holon (3-3) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Hapoel J-M (3-3) 76-68 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 76-68. The best player for the winners was American Courtney Fells (198-86, college: N.Carolina St.) who scored 9 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. International Elishay Kadir (202-87, agency: Avi Zilberman) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. Four Hapoel J-M players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Jerome Dyson (191-87, college: Connecticut) who recorded 22 points and his fellow American import forward Frank Hassell (203-88, college: ODU) added 11 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks respectively. Hapoel J-M have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with defeated Hapoel Holon. Hapoel J-M will meet at home Ironi Ashkelon (#11) in the next round. Hapoel Holon will play against the league's leader Maccabi T-A (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
