The game between second ranked GreenTops Netanya (5-2) and twelfth ranked Galil Gilboa (1-6) was the most important one in the last round on Monday night. GreenTops Netanya was defeated by Galil Gilboa in a tough game in Netanya 74-83. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 13-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-74. Galil Gilboa forced 23 GreenTops Netanya turnovers. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for forward Mitchell Watt (208-89, college: Buffalo) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Jamar Smith (191-87, college: S.Indiana, agency: KMG Sports Management) helped adding 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Galil Gilboa's coach Lior Lubin used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side swingman Deron Washington (201-85, college: Virginia Tech) responded with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Galil Gilboa maintains twelfth place with 1-6 record. GreenTops Netanya at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with Maccabi Haifa. Galil Gilboa are looking forward to face higher ranked Maccabi Ashdod (#10) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. GreenTops Netanya will play against Hapoel Eilat (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
Ironi Ashkelon has finally registered their first victory this season after five consecutive loses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Jerusalem, where they defeated Hapoel J-M (3-4) 91-85. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Marcus Moore (198-80, college: Washington St., agency: Laszlo Vinko Group) who led the winners and scored 22 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Marcus Dove accounted for 18 points and 7 rebounds. Ironi Ashkelon's coach Adi Azulay allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Craig Smith (201-83, college: Boston Coll.) came up with 28 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for Hapoel J-M in the defeat. Ironi Ashkelon (1-5) left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with Maccabi Ashdod. Hapoel J-M at the other side keeps the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Hapoel Holon. Ironi Ashkelon will play against higher ranked Hapoel Holon (#8) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hapoel J-M will play against Maccabi Rishon in Rishon Le-Zion and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Winner League top team - Maccabi T-A (6-1) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed eighth ranked Hapoel Holon (3-4) 100-72. David Logan fired 15 points for the winners. Maccabi T-A's coach David Blatt felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Frank Hassell produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 17 rebounds for lost side. Maccabi T-A have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 6-1 record. Hapoel Holon lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Hapoel J-M. Maccabi T-A's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tel-Aviv Hapoel Tel-Aviv.
The game in Tel-Aviv was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Hapoel Eilat (4-2) played at the court of 5th ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (4-2). Hapoel Eilat managed to secure a 4-point victory 68-64. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Worth to mention a great performance of Eli Holman who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 18 rebounds. Hapoel Tel-Aviv's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hapoel Eilat have a solid series of three victories in a row. Despite that victory Hapoel Eilat went down to fourth position due to points difference, which they share with Hapoel T-A and Maccabi Rishon. Hapoel Eilat's next round opponent will be higher ranked GreenTops Netanya (#3) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hapoel Tel-Aviv's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tel-Aviv to the arena Maccabi T-A.

In the last two games of round 7 Maccabi Haifa won against Maccabi Ashdod on the opponent's court 80-74. Bnei Hasharon unfortunately lost to Maccabi Rishon in a home game 76-91.



Maccabi Ashdod - Maccabi Haifa 74-80

Very expected game when 10th ranked Maccabi Ashdod (1-5) was defeated at home by third ranked Maccabi Haifa (5-2) 80-74. It looked good early as Maccabi Ashdod took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Maccabi Haifa had a 22-19 second period charge getting the lead and Maccabi Ashdod was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 74-80. Maccabi Haifa made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Mexican point guard Paul Stoll (180-85) who helped to win the game recording 25 points. American Donta Smith (201-83, college: SE Illinois JC) contributed with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Five Maccabi Haifa players scored in double figures. point guard Guni Israeli (185-84, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Diamon Simpson (201-87, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 21 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Maccabi Ashdod. Maccabi Haifa have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Netanya. Maccabi Ashdod at the other side keeps the tenth position with five games lost. Maccabi Haifa's next round opponent will be Bnei Hasharon (#9) in Hod Hasharon and are hoping to win another game. Maccabi Ashdod will play on the road against Galil Gilboa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rather predictable result in Hod Hasharon where sixth ranked Maccabi Rishon (4-2) defeated 9th ranked Bnei Hasharon (2-4) 91-76. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi Rishon. Bnei Hasharon was better in third quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi Rishon players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Julian Wright (203-87, college: Kansas) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Jamaican-American power forward Adrian Uter (200-84, college: Hofstra, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) contributed with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Maccabi Rishon players scored in double figures. American-Mexican swingman Romel Beck (201-82, college: UNLV, agency: Interperformances) answered with 25 points and naturalized American power forward Isaac Rosefelt (204-85, college: St.Thomas, agency: Avi Zilberman) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Bnei Hasharon. Ironi Ashkelon has finally registered their first victory this season after five consecutive loses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Jerusalem, where they defeated Hapoel J-M (3-4) 91-85. It looked good early as Hapoel J-M took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Ironi Ashkelon had a 22-18 second period charge getting the lead and Hapoel J-M was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 85-91. Hapoel J-M will play against Maccabi Rishon in Rishon Le-Zion and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Winner League top team - Maccabi T-A (6-1) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed eighth ranked Hapoel Holon (3-4) 100-72. The game without a history. Maccabi T-A led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Hapoel Holon's 40. Maccabi T-A looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Hapoel Holon's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Maccabi T-A made 9 blocks. American-Polish guard David Logan (185-82, college: Indianapolis) fired 15 points for the winners. International Lior Eliyahu (206-85) chipped in 13 points. Maccabi T-A's coach David Blatt felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Frank Hassell (203-88, college: ODU) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 17 rebounds and the other American import forward Tyler Smith (201-86, college: Tennessee) added 10 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Maccabi T-A and four Hapoel Holon players scored in double figures. Maccabi T-A have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 6-1 record. Hapoel Holon lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Hapoel J-M. The game in Tel-Aviv was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Hapoel Eilat (4-2) played at the court of 5th ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (4-2). Hapoel Eilat managed to secure a 4-point victory 68-64. Hapoel Tel-Aviv was ahead by 2 points after three quarters before a 20-14 charge of Hapoel Eilat, which allowed them to win the game. They outrebounded Hapoel Tel-Aviv 43-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. 27 personal fouls committed by Hapoel Tel-Aviv helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Eli Holman (208-89, college: Detroit Mercy) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 18 rebounds. Guard Scotty Hopson (200-89, college: Tennessee) contributed with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Hapoel Eilat players scored in double figures. Curtis Kelly (205-88, college: Kansas St.) answered with 22 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Demontez Stitt (186-89, college: Clemson) added 13 points in the effort for Hapoel Tel-Aviv. Hapoel Tel-Aviv's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hapoel Eilat have a solid series of three victories in a row. Despite that victory Hapoel Eilat went down to fourth position due to points difference, which they share with Hapoel T-A and Maccabi Rishon. Hapoel Eilat's next round opponent will be higher ranked GreenTops Netanya (#3) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
