Adaora Elonu
Talented American Adaora Elonu (185-F-90, agency: Ronsport) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's second-best Galil Elion and that's her to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 22-year old forward had a double-double of 26 points and twelve rebounds, while her team beat Hap.Petah Tikva (#3, 3-2) 71-66. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Galil Elion is placed at 2nd position in Israeli D1. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. Galil Elion will need more victories to improve their 3-1 record. Elonu turned to be Galil Elion's top player in her first season with the team. Texas A&M University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Elonu is in league's top in points (3rd best: 21.0ppg) and averages solid 54.1% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 27-year old American shooting guard Ashley Shields (180-SG-85) of league's best team Maccabi Ashdod. Shields impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 22 points and 10 assists. It was enough for Maccabi Ashdod to edge the lower-ranked Elitzur Netanya (#7, 1-2) by 5 points 76-71. Of course Maccabi Ashdod still keep the league's top spot. A very good start of the season for her team, which won so far all 5 games without any defeat. Shields is well-known by Maccabi Ashdod fans and she already established her position as one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.0ppg (#2). Her other stats are also decent: 5.3rpg and 5.8apg.

The third best performed player last round was American Shey Peddy (170-PG-88) of H.R. Le-Zion (#9). Peddy showcased her all-around game by recording 24 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the last round. Despite Peddy's great performance H.R. Le-Zion lost 76-80 to slightly higher-ranked Elitzur Holon (#8, 1-4). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. H.R. Le-Zion can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 4 games. Too bad for Peddy she does not play for a better team. But maybe if she did, her season stats would not be that high. Peddy has a very solid season. In 4 games in Israel she scored 14.3ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Vanessa Gidden (193-C/F-85) of Hap.Petah Tikva - 20 points and 16 rebounds
5. Rebekah Gardner (185-G-90) of Hap.Petah Tikva - 20 points and 12 rebounds
6. Tiffany Hayes (177-G-89) of H.R. Le-Zion - 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Courtney Hurt (185-F-90) of Elitzur Netanya - 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Kerri Gardin (186-F-84) of Elitzur Holon - 14 points and 13 rebounds
9. Sydney Carter (167-PG-90) of Galil Elion - 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Maurita Reid (173-PG-85) of Elitzur Netanya - 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
