Israeli Winner League round 8 best performance: Eli Holman - Dec 4, 2012

American power forward Eli Holman (208-F/C-89) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Hapoel Eilat, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 23-year old player had a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds, while his team edged out Netanya (#4, 5-3) 68-65. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Hapoel Eilat is placed at 3rd position in Israeli Winner League. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Hapoel Eilat will need more victories to improve their 5-2 record. Holman turned to be Hapoel Eilat's top player in his first season with the team. Former University of Detroit Mercy star has very solid stats this year. Holman is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 11.0rpg) and averages impressive 1.3bpg and 60.0% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 27-year old American Marcus Dove (206-F-85) of Elizur Ashkelon. Dove had a very good evening with a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds. It was enough for Elizur Ashkelon to edge slightly higher-ranked Hapoel Holon (#8, 3-5) 93-88. This victory allowed Elizur Ashkelon to move up to 10th position in the standings. 5 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Elizur Ashkelon managed to get this year. Dove is a newcomer at Elizur Ashkelon, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Jamar Smith (191-G-87, agency: KMG Sports Management) of Galil Gilboa (#11). Smith showcased his all-around game by recording 22 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the last round. He was a key player of Galil Gilboa, leading his team to a 90-70 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Maccabi Ashdod (#12, 1-6). Galil Gilboa can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-6 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Smith he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Smith has individually a great season in Israel. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 13.2ppg (7th best) and assists with 3.6apg (best passer).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Ben Rice (195-F-90) of Bnei Hasharon - 27 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Josh Duncan (203-PF-86) of Hapoel J-M - 26 points and 3 rebounds
6. Jeff Allen (201-F/C-87) of Hapoel T-A - 14 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Jacob Pullen (185-PG-89) of Hapoel J-M - 17 points and 9 assists
8. Jumaine Jones (203-F-79) of Bnei Hasharon - 15 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Lior Eliyahu (206-SF-85) of Maccabi T-A - 20 points and 4 assists
10. Gal Mekel (190-PG-88) of Maccabi Haifa - 16 points, 2 rebounds and 9 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Winner League Round 15: Hapoel Jerusalem beat Ironi Nahariya by three after a very close game - 2 hours ago
The most exciting game of round 15 in the Winner League took place in Nahariya.
