Devin Smith
American Devin Smith (196-G/F-83) had a great game in the last round for league's leader Maccabi T-A and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 9.
The 29-year old swingman had a double-double of 29 points and ten rebounds, while his team beat Netanya (#5, 5-4) 89-82. It allowed Maccabi T-A to consolidate first place in the Israeli Winner League. Maccabi T-A have a solid 8-1 record. In the team's last game Smith had a remarkable six three-pointers out of 8 attempts. It's his second year at Maccabi T-A and it's hard to imagine this team without him. The University of Virginia graduate has very impressive stats this year. Smith is league's best passer with 1.6apg. Smith is in league's top in and averages solid 69.0% FGP and 55.6% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 24-year old Polish point guard Gal Mekel (190-PG-88) of Maccabi Haifa. Mekel impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 24 points and 12 assists. Bad luck as Maccabi Haifa lost that game 92-103 to the lower-ranked Hapoel J-M (#6, 5-4). This loss caused Maccabi Haifa to drop to 3rd position in the standings. His team's 6-3 record is not bad at all. Mekel is a newcomer at Maccabi Haifa and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Julien Mills (193-G/F-85) of Elizur Ashkelon (#9). Mills scored 24 points and grabbed ten rebounds. He was a key player of Elizur Ashkelon, leading his team to a 92-80 win against slightly higher-ranked Maccabi Rishon (#7, 4-4). The chances of Elizur Ashkelon not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 5 games, recording just three victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Mills could try to bring Elizur Ashkelon's a little bit higher in the standings. Mills has a very solid season. In 8 games in Israel he scored 12.5ppg. He also has 5.6rpg and FGP: 53.7%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Josh Duncan (203-PF-86) of Hapoel J-M - 19 points and 10 rebounds
5. Jerome Dyson (191-G-87) of Hapoel Holon - 30 points, 2 rebounds and 5 assists
6. Marco Killingsworth (203-F/C-82) of Netanya - 21 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Derrick Caracter (206-F-88) of Bnei Hasharon - 16 points and 10 rebounds
8. Mardy Collins (198-G-84) of Maccabi Ashdod - 25 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Jerome Tillman (198-F-87) of Hapoel Eilat - 15 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Demontez Stitt (186-PG-89) of Hapoel T-A - 20 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Netanel Artzi agreed terms with Hapoel Afula - 1 day ago

Hapoel Gilboa Afula (National League) strengthened their roster with addition of 19-year old forward Netanel Artzi (198-97). He was about to sign at Maccabi Haifa (Winner League). Artzi has played there for the last four years. National League will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time.
